Ouch, it is indeed.. I hope my order (only one set ) doesn't get nuked, it'd make a good start for a new X99 rig. My Q9550 just won't die...

I tried to order and it kept adding it to the cart at the full price, so didn't manage to get an order in.
Best of luck regardless!

5820K or 6700K the 6700K has newer technology, the 5820K is obviously 6 core and not 4 core but doesn't always offer an advantage over the 6700K, but maybe you've researched it and what I'm saying doesn't matter
Anyway if I was building now I'd only go Z170 or X99 chipset currently.

I know - but given how rarely I upgrade my PC, I think the X99 platform would suit me better: more PCI-E lanes, more cores that are still fast enough, etc. I wouldn't be looking to upgrade again for at least 4+ years and I think we're finally moving (slowly..) towards taking advantage of more than 4 cores, so this makes sense for my personal requirements

I'll keep an eye out. Have a look at reviews and benchmarks though, there's basically no difference above 2400MHz, so you might as well save some cash

looking to future proof a bit, for my new x99 project, would rather not go straight in at the highest performance spot. especially as some deals are £100- £120 ish its not that much more to pay.
Opening post
32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4 2400 Mhz C16 XMP 2.0 (Red)
Lowest it's been for a while, in fact lowest for 4x8GB for a while too I think.
