This looks to be one of the best promotions I think Tastecard have ever run.
Not only will you get a 90 Day Tastecard for just £1 (a bargain on its own) but Tastecard will also donate £5 to Mary Meals for every £1 Tastecard bought.
So even if you don't use, your £1 has given £5 to a very worth cause in its own right. Just signup and cancel.
What more incentive could you want?
By the way don't forget to cancel your card once you get it, as they will automatically renew it after your 90 Days trial is up. Cancellation is easy now, and you can do it online here..
You can cancel as soon as you get the card, it remains valid for 90 days no matter when you cancel.
Not a big taste card fan but this is great on so many counts. Ordered thanks OP!

I was planning to cancel on the last day of the card. Unfortunately that was the renewal date so I ended up getting charged. Trying to get a refund through paypal. Fingers crossed.

Are these worth it? We have a gift voucher that has a year TasteCard as an option.

If you go few times a month to restaurant it worth doing the full card for a year. Please note that it's not valid through most of December, on bank holidays, Fridays and Saturdays.

If you're in London OR near a restaurant or two that you really like that takes tastecard then yes, it is 100% worth it. I've got a pub 90 seconds away that takes tastecard. It's awesome.

To be honest, for some stuff, if you have a NUS card, at places like Pizza Express and Prezzo it's pretty much the same (40%) using that if you don't plan on ordering stuff of exactly or very similar value to your guests.

worst company ever, watchout for auto renewal and make sure you have million calendar events to cancel it. Even if you are 1 minute over the time specified they will charge you £40.....

You can cancel as soon as you get the card. No need to wait. It still remains valid for the full 90 days no matter when you cancel.

To be fair it isn't the fault of the company that people forget to cancel. I picked up a free 3 month trial and have so far used it once saving £34.. can't complain at that!

Just be very careful about cancelling as it is a subscription automatically when you sign up, make sure you cancel the same day or you are charged 39.99 per year.

I've contacted customer services but they're having none of it which I suppose is fair enough but I was hoping for some sort of good faith refund as it was on the first day of the renewal. I ended up creating a dispute through paypal that has been elevated to a claim as they didn't respond in the allocated time so I'm hoping the decision goes my way.

Same happened to me, but with Gourmet Society. They lied and said they will send me an e-mail reminder just before payment will be taken, but I checked my inbox and junk and nothing was there. Called on the day to cancel, and was told that payment had already been taken at midnight, and there was nothing they could do. Raised a dispute with PayPal, and got a refund after a week. Good luck

Yes, I cancelled my subscription the same day I received my card.
When you cancel via the link i posted in the deal, it tells you your card remains valid for the rest of the trial period and will not be renewed.

no 1 son had problem getting the discount in ?? (can't remember which restaurant) as they said he hadn't said it was a tastecard booking when he made the reservation. Grudgingly gave it him when he made it clear he would not pay bill till they did so.
Mary's meals is a brilliant small charity btw

I will bite for the sake of a quid! £5 donation to hungry kids and 50% of in a local Italian place... Bargain! Thanks OP!
One of the reasons is "to stop auto renewal" and I have done this and got an email stating I can still use the card for the trial period.

Voted Hot just for the cancelation link
I can also confirm you can cancel the auto renewal, while leaving the trial period active. Same applies if you have a yearly sub.
I haven't had problems previously. But this time around I had called to cancel a couple of months ago when I signed up for the trial. Fortunately I spotted a warning email the other day that they would auto renew next month. Gave them a call and the agent said auto renewal hadn't been turned off on my account.
Just tried the link and it now tells me the last agent has cancelled renewal. So thanks for the link, will use that in future

in what way are they actually thieves? If you forget to cancel yourself, something that can be done online, then its your own daft fault. They offer their services for THREE MONTHS free of fees in a bid to prove they are worth paying for afterwords. They set it to auto renew because, after the three months is up. if you are happy, you do nothing. This is much easier than saying "if you like our service then come back to our site, set up payment details again, and subscribe".
I'd probably argue that if anybody is " thieving" it is the person taking advantage of a free offer with absolutely no intention of using the services once it expires.

Worst company I've dealt with. Horrendous auto-renewal as mentioned in this thread. Appalling service when challenged. Trustpilot score about as bad as it gets with the number of people this company has basically scammed with its no notification auto renewal for a year at full price. I'm pretty hopeful that practice will be blocked by UK consumer law soon, it needs to be.
Wouldn't touch it if you offered me a £50 amazon voucher for signing up for this trial. Abstained from voting as not OP's fault.

Or you can get a free 30 day trial.... Only 1 per household & didn't need cc details just name address and email - if this helps anyone. I got 1 today from what the lady on the phone told me you can use it for up to 40% off showcase cinemas! I then just googled which restaurants I could use it in for my area!

To all those getting in a pickle about auto-renewal (with this or other things like Radio Times £1 offers): don't waste your time with cancellations processes, etc......just go online and cancel the dd's or automatic payments at your own end via the bank. Not paying is an excellent method of bringing matters to an end. Your 'contract' is not for a year unless you cancel, it's for 3 months (for which you've paid in advance). You do not need some sort of 'official' cancellation regardless of what any blurb tries to suggest.
At all times avoid 'recurring payments' from a credit card however which, astonishingly, can only be cancelled by the recipient. How the government allows that one is beyond me.
anthony69 to rumble
16 Sep 16#38
Really?. Is that good advice?. You still have to tell the receipient - Otherwise they will continue to try and take their money (which will fail as you have cancelled the DD). Next thing you know is when the balifs come knocking at your door months down the line asking for the bill + costs etc??.
rumble
16 Sep 16#39
Why would the bailiffs come knocking? You have not broken any contract (you already paid in advance for it).
anthony69
16 Sep 16#40
Its not a DD or Standing Order though, its a recurring Credit Card payment? You can't control or cancel that? Unless you cancel the card I would imagine in between. Bit of a hassle though.
