You will be hard pressed to make burgers , meatballs or bolognese from those items

Why does everybody get noisy on fat content of mince?
You simply boil the mince in a saucepan and use a slightly smaller saucepan lid to crush the hell out of it when browned and drain into a spare cup.
Not hard at all, making it a bargain jeez.........

The lamb and pork deals posted earlier this week are much better.
Not necessarily organic as stated but sources in an organic fashion.. Minimal use of preservatives and hormonal agents..
Enjoy

Good price if you're on a budget but in my experience most of the meat that comes out of Iceland is as cheap and nasty as it can get.

Yes it's a completely different item but I think the quality does play a role to a certain degree, not just price.. Otherwise I'd be doing all my food shopping from the likes of Netto/Aldi/Lidl..
I've seen lamb joints for 20 p each in a local Nisa store, but have no idea what's actually in it or where in the world it comes from..
And I'm not comparing the quality of Iceland (your deal) to Waitrose (my deal)... I'm just sayin..

What's the real fat percentage in this? Is it really 23%? That sounds like a lot of... fat!
Treboeth to AdrianK_
14 Sep 16#12
It states on the link typically 23%
but fat in mince is a good thing for some uses, meatballs burgers and the like.

normal mince is about 20% fat, lean is usually around 10% fat
but it doesn't really matter, most mince dishes are better with the higher fat content.

having spent 15 years of my early life in the meat trade, I would not buy mince with this fat content, because I know the quality of the meat that goes into it. If I tried to sell you those cuts you wouldn't buy it. :disappointed:

Marketers dream. Love it.
Did you know Waitrose breed a special new breed of cows which are different from the cows used by all other supermarkets.

Yeah you'd need to skim off the fat. There's a lot of it! Pour it down the drain then we can have a deal on drain unblockers.

I stick the fat in the chip fryer, keeps the beef dripping topped up.

Why not eat the fat? It will help in filling you up. And doesn't it have a lot of unsaturated fat which has been shown to have health benefits?

Solid at room temp = saturated fat <3

Made burgers out of this mince tonight, not the best I've had but not too shabby at all to be honest. 4 reasonable sized burgers worth for a quid, can't complain.

Never pour grease or oil down the drain. We've had a few incidents in my neighborhood where the sewer pipes were clogged with fat, and a few people's basements flooded with sewage as a result. For fats that solidify, let them do so, then pitch them in your regular garbage.
Drain the fat off.Dip your stale bread in it.feed it to birds

If you make burgers then crumble up a beef oxo in it for extra beefiness. I always put a 50/50 salt/msg mix on mine but we'll have people crying if I suggest people do that.
