My sons pc has a gtx960 graphics card and 3.4GHz Intel Quad Core i5 etc. He uses a 25" LCD tv at the moment. Would this be an improvement? if not could someone point me in the direction of a monitor that would be an improvement in picture quality. Maximum budget would be about £150 to £170. Thanks for any advice.

This will most likely be a big improvement over a tv yes, especially if he games. Personally I'm not a fan of the ultra wide monitors, I dont see the benefit of them really, and you'll spend more time readjusting games than its worth.

Your son is lucky with parents, although I would start pushing onto earning themselves otherwise you wont notice how you start buying monitors for grand kids and still supporting kids...:neutral_face: to answer the question yes it would make an improvement providing your tv is lower spec.
So many 27 inches on here recently .. Not sure which one to get! This or the Acer?

Bought this 2 weeks ago from Amazon for £133.99. Contacted them to ask if they could refund the difference but they refused citing a "change in policy". FFS! But they offered me a free return label to send mine back for a refund!! So theoretically I could order a new monitor at the lower price and return it the next day for a refund of the higher price! What are Amazon playing at?

I was thinking of buying a 27 inch monitor, but I watched a video on YouTube saying that that large size TN panels tend to be bad because you get viewing angle problems and thus color reproduction problems even viewing it straight ahead? Do you notice this kind of issues? , otherwise this seems like a great monitor at a great price

Be wary about ebuyer. I'm a long time customer and bought 2 , 24" gaming benq monitors, one arrived without a power lead and the other had a number of dead pixels.
I retuned the faulty one after yodel never bothered to turn for the first scheduled pick up day.
After about 2 weeks of raising the initial rma I got a replacement. To my amazement this monitor was worse than the one it replaced with 4 or 5 areas of dead pixels.
All three of the monitors which I received had clearly been opened, presumably returns which had been restocked.
