Had to put in a new chip and then sealed it up with bathroom sealant and it has worked since. Would recommend using a tube of sealant during install between the glass front and the area that reflects out the light to avoid water getting in. Also a lot of these (not sure about the pro elec ones) don't come with an earth so technically they would need a small earth bolt and connection made to meet uk standards.

Exactly, why bother at all?

Because copper is expensive and you want to buy cheap things.

Pro Elec stuff as sold by CPC conforms to Uk standards. I don't know the IP rating on this light (their site is down ATM) but if Pro Elec were shipping CPC lights with metal bodies that were not earthed CPC's engineers would have a fit.

Bloody world gone LED mad,,,, just had had my street lighting changed to LED,LED lamp post right outside my house, my bedroom is now illuminated like a dam football stadium , thanks council to55ers !!

Its simple enough really. There are four screws on the front which when removed allow you to remove the face of the light including the glass bit, a rubber seal and a metal frame. Mine leaked past this part so i put sealant around the edge of that part then put it back together with the 4 screws and then applied more sealant to the outside edge.

I didnt seal the pir personally but it would also be a good idea to do this.

Do these lights reflect heat well with tinfoil, as I need my plants to grow quicker.

I can't really understand why people are saying these are going to be faulty, if it develops a fault simply return it, CPC are great I have returned things before with no issues with credit given straight away

Well mine have just been delivered, so certainly cannot complain about cpc service!

As for the build quality, I've just stripped it down and found a nice silicone gasket between the body and the glass, and a rubber gasket to the electrical enclosure, the led has plenty of heatsink compound and is well bolted down to the body and the led driver is of a suitable size, yes, the pir looks poor in comparison with the rest of the light but IP44 is perfectly adequate for fitting outside, which I'll be doing, but converting mine into switch controlled as I don't need mine on a pir

For £15.55 each I'm certainly not complaining

Hardly a decision worth shouting about given the review comments on Amazon for this light. You may as well have hung your £25.73 in cash on a hook and set fire to it.... better value for money!

Yeah I know, there vs their.

I dried it out, but the PIR circuit would not work. The light still worked, but the motion sensor did not.
As it was primarily there to security light the back garden, I had to dump it and have replaced it with this
IP65 80Watt

Did you manage to fix it after water got into the motion sensor? I think I've got the same problem, is it easy to dismantle and then seal up again?

Bought one of these last winter. It's fantastic with a very white light. I'd buy another if I had anywhere to put it.

Buy cheap, buy twice!

Total false economy. These are not built to last. I have been to a lot of factories in China where these are made and I have also broken down a large number of these from UK suppliers. They are cheap and nasty and generally do not confirm to basic standards required to be sold in the UK.

Looking for quite a few PIR lights, 2 for out front of house, 2 at back. Can anyone recommend anthing? No idea what wattage I would/should use or whether LED or not. Thanks!

Careful. I have 3 of these, paid around the same. The 50w ones have a bit of a design flaw. The plastic mount for the PIR is the same length on all sizes of lamp, but the 50w has such a big lens, the PIR at best is pointing down 30 degrees. As such, these needed to be mounted very high indeed, minimum 5m I'd say. The first one I mounted at a height of 2.5m, and the PIR had a range of only 4m, as PIR was looking down too much, even when as high as it would go.

Sadly many of these Led Floodlights are like this one only rated at IP44 which you could use in a outside building or covered area. In most gardens you would need at least a rating of IP65.
