Op, if this isn't a daft question- is it Manchester only? Was wanting to travel Wigan to London. Not that well up on train stuff, but I do know it's a different line? But still operated by Virgin

try wigan to london VIA manchester on a search engine which lets you put a VIA in. i use http://www.eastcoast.com. All tickets for all train companies are available on any train companie's website which a lot of people don't realise. Also just try Manchester to London and book singles Wigan to Manchester. There are 3 fast trains an hour Manchester to London and a lot of them are about 3/4 empty in the middle of the day. Wigan only has one fast train an hour, and one slow one which is Virgin but it takes an hour longer. In other words, supply and demand! The trains through WIgan all come from Scotland so there is already all the people on them from all the stations between there and Wigan. Manchester ones start in Manchester and only stop 3 times on way so u often virtually have a carriage to yourself.
