Hi, went shopping today and noticed this on the shelf. Refined pure coconut oil in 500ml jar for £1.49. Not sure if national and also not on-line (just checked) so instore only.
This one was in B&M Rugby, loads left on the shelf.

Refined coconut oil shouldn't be used for cooking btw, as the refining process takes out all the goodness!
Should be fine for cosmetic use though :smiley:

Refined coconut oil is perfect for frying, it still has similar nutritional values to other refined oils and doesn't smoke/rancidify like virgin coconut oil does.
But I agree, if you're not frying virgin coconut oil really is much better for you :wink:

ah misread this thought it was UNrefined! Not recommended for eating IMO.
Refined is fine, and IMO better for cooking in most cases. The only problem with refined is that it's often hydrogenated, which is not good. Unfortunately this type is hydrogenated. Good price though for other uses.

Hydrogenated coconut oil melts above 33°c but this oil melts in the palm of my hand (also states on the jar that it melts at 18°c). Doesn't sound like it's hydrogenated.

I emailed the manufacturer after buying it last month. They confirmed it is hydrogenated
