How is this "one of the top drill going"? [sic]
Considering it won't even drill through a brick wall, it's hardly a top performer. Fine for occasional home use and about the same quality as you'd get from Lidl (which incidentally are about the same price as this).

Where are people getting the idea that there is no clutch on this? It looks the same as the one on Argos, and the customer Q&A there indicates that there IS a clutch. They also say it is NOT recommended for core drilling, but then apparently Titan say the same about their 5kg monsters (via Screwfix), and their users happily ignore it.

For the money, this drill is a win win in my opinion - If it lasts ten minutes days or weeks just take it back to where you bought it and swap it for another of the same. The drill comes in a carry case with three sds bits (8,10 and 12 x 150 mm), a flat chisel (14 x 250 mm) and a point chisel (14 x 250 mm),a dust cover, auxiliary handle, depth gauge. Somebody mentioned they used the hammer facility to take down a pantry I think they said, I quote this from the maintenance section on page 12 "If your hammer work efficiency is too low, please add sufficient grease in the grease box" That said, it also says that there should be grease supplied along with a pin spanner, I got none in mine ! (The grease specification is general purpose lithium based). Always read the instruction manual when you buy any such tool. I think for the price of this hammer/chisel drill it is good value, somebody also said earlier, if they get pinched or break its not the end of the world - very true. I bought a Guild jig saw earlier this year and it's had some hammer and still works - I may purchase a Guild multi tool too. All used daily, I am a Plumbing and Heating Engineer and have a good range of branded tools Makita, De Walt, Hitachi and Hilti. If you look after your tools they'll give you years of use. 10/10.

People appear to be misreading the title. I read it as one of the best drills for under 30 quid NOT one of the best drills full stop?
Anyway, my DIY-loving son swears by this one for less than 20 smackeroos
the sds drill pack a bit more punch than these. my external house brick are quite hard and a normal drill takes ages to go through them, but an sds drill take about 15 seconds.... downside is you usually end up with a bigger hole or blowing the back of the brick out.
As for someone comment about Chinese crap, I had a Nutool one for around £30 few years back and by far one of the best tool I've ever owned. similar case with a tile saw I brought as well. not saying it's the case for all these small brands but they actually use better materials than some leading brands

Energer make very good power tools.I'm a tradesman who has all the big expensive power tool brands, but decided to buy a jigsaw and sheet sander absolute brilliant tools for the price especially the jigsaw, with another name on the side of it you'd be paying £120 for it

I absolutely hate when people put "best deal" or "top *item*" or some other click bait crap in their titles.
Cold on that basis.

I have one of these taken a few walls out, core drilled a few 110mm holes and done lots of 25mm holes for pipework. A clutch would be better but if like me you only use an sds 20 or 30 times per year then this beastie will do nicely.
I have a saying with cheap tools, buy twice take back and replace when they break under warranty. You always have a new tool and no one nicks your tools! This drill has lasted me since January so far so really quite good for me.

Used with a chisel bit to take down a brick pantry in a kitchen. Lasted about 2hrs before the motor burnt out.

Milwalke (sorry bout the spelling) or Matika are the best drills around, you pay for them though. OK for occasional DIY use though.

These are more for using on hammer action I would say as I have one but a different make from Homebase. Good for breaking up concrete. If this is the same as mine, would never use for drilling as there is no clutch

If you are drilling small holes to feed cable through, you don't need a clutch & any old cheap SDS will work. Where it gets tricky for newbie's is if they use it for coring or breaking in a wall. If it catches, you had better hope you have a strong wrist This is where a clutch comes in handy.
For drilling through a wall to feed through a cable or even a pipe for outdoor tap etc, this drill will be perfect. For drilling into brick or concrete, an SDS is far superior to a standard drill.

I got a cheap Duratool Hammer SDS drill from CPC a few years back, they sell SDS drill bits on there, not sure if they're any cop though! My drill only gets light use.
Claim of being a 'top drill' is an exaggeration but not a bad price for an SDS drill. Not sure if it has any drill bits included since the drill bits can be expensive to purchase seperately.

No doubt it's OK for the price, but no way is it a top drill.
Guild is just another one of these brands just dreamed up & stuck on the side of some cheap tat from China.
Probably just fine for people who will hardly ever need it.
