Thai have been in financial trouble for a while. I have a few friends who work with them who are trying to move to other companies.Although unlikely to go bust anytime soon, having flown with them I was not impressed. Staff sleeping in empty seats at the back of the plane, orange juice watered down, seat broken, late departures etc ......

Excellent deal this and Thai Airways too. The challenge for me is *not* the airline but the agents offering these fares - I've never heard of any of them and so have no idea whether they are "reliable"!!
Would have booked directly on the Thai Airlines site but exactly the same flights are priced at 250% of this deal at £929 per person as opposed to £374 via agents for the exact same dates and flights.
Anyone care to share any thoughts please on how to get the TA site to cough up the same pricing?

There might be 10 seats on each flight at that price. That's how airline sales work. The rest pay a lot more. Of course if everyone paid that fare on every flight

I much preferred South but this combo could work well for moving further afield. I booked this, having seen it on FT I debated all day and ended up with a week in Bkk, on to NZ (I've been 3 times but love it) but am planning to use airmiles and then head to the Cook Islands. This could be a good deal if people wanted to go to Fiji too as it can be quite reasonable to fly there from NZ (we have previously flown with Jetstar from NZ for a reasonable price.

Hey fellow HOTUKDEALers what a great deal. When I saw this earlier today I looked into it played around with the dates etc and found that it included the half term week in June 2017 (girlfriend is a teacher) so thought if we ever go here this is the perfect opportunity at this price. I've booked with stop overs of 13 and 16 hours in Bangkok (most I could find) although I'm thinking it might not be long enough to really experience that part. I've seen some messages where people have said they managed to get a few days even a week in Bangkok before the onward flight. I couldn't find a way of doing this as the flights seemed to be more expensive just to Bangkok if I broke them up. Does anyone mind explaining how its been done on this occasion?
I paid 363 for the flights. Still can't believe I'm saying that. Works out about £8 an hour to fly with a great airline. Incredible.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Got a week stopover in BKK but it was extra the cheapest route tended to be for a shorter stop although I did see fares around £390 for 6-8 days in BKK so you paid more for a longer stopover. I paid just £405 with Ebookers but it was worth it for me as I've never been to Thailand and I had weekend departure/returning flights and Easter so it's got the bank holidays so less annual leave to book off work :-) and I really like April in NZ, shoulder season and still pretty good weather.

Thanks very much, OP, this is a great deal. £400 per person is pretty close to what I would have paid for staff tickets to NZ, so to get confirmed flights is ridiculously cheap.
Having flown on Thai a lot I'll vouch for them as a very good airline. The shabby old 747s from LHR were replaced a couple of years ago and the A380s / 777s are much better. Just remember to get on your knees if a member of the Thai royal family is walking by...

New Zealand weather is a bit like the UK but with better summers and better winters. London is 51° from the equator, Wellington is 41°. NZ is warmer and it's never dark at 3.30pm.
Auckland rains a lot, but unless you're up a mountain then there's nowhere that it's colder than the UK, keeping in mind that the UK includes Scotland and most kiwis live in the sub-tropics.
The beer is, of course, much better in the UK.

Yes you would get airmiles.
however this is likely booked under W class (deep discounted economy) so you (and me too) will get only 25% of base miles flown.
I think round trip LHR-BKK-AKL is 24000 miles, so we might get around 6000 miles for our efforts.
The question is which program (of Star Alliance membership) allows higher than 25% of base miles flown on Thai W class ticket.

I called today to pay for my flights as I had only held them on Saturday. I didn't mention about error fares etc, she just went over my details and confirmed the cost, she took my card details and then passed them over to their ticketing team, I then got an email with my e-tickets around an hour later, so I would say we are all good to go, as this would have been their chance to say hang on something is wrong here. Flexible on dates.
Crazy..!?
Anyone know if this 72h payment thing actually holds the ticket? It's an option to call an agent and pay within 72h rather than pay online immediately. Email i got says the booking is confirmed.

EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency)
FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)
CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority)
CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China)
JCAB (Japan Civil Aviation Bureau)
IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit)
Would help if ICAO could update monthly on this.
I paid 363 for the flights. Still can't believe I'm saying that. Works out about £8 an hour to fly with a great airline. Incredible.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Better off buying a house there.
Having flown on Thai a lot I'll vouch for them as a very good airline. The shabby old 747s from LHR were replaced a couple of years ago and the A380s / 777s are much better. Just remember to get on your knees if a member of the Thai royal family is walking by...
Too many people clearly been watching too many fly on the wall documentaries about Antipodean law/customs enforcement. that are edited to the max #justsaying
Thanks,
MM
Lhr to Bkk
BKK - AKL
AKL - Lhr
Or put the stop in Bkk at the end.
Auckland rains a lot, but unless you're up a mountain then there's nowhere that it's colder than the UK, keeping in mind that the UK includes Scotland and most kiwis live in the sub-tropics.
The beer is, of course, much better in the UK.
So do you add multi stops as in its an option or book the flights all separately?
I'd say exactly like a 28 hour flight but nothing like a 27 hour flight.
That's completely different.
Then again a 27 hour flight is nothing like a 26 hour flight.
Hope that helps !!
there'll always be someone who has more luck and is better off:
Imagine someone flying business class telling you "I won 5 million with the lottery, quit my job and jetting the globe now" :stuck_out_tongue:
I doubt it. It's more a case of all the cheaper fares have been booked up.
Fair enough. That info was missing from the original post, which seemed to be more speculation. Good on the airline if they are honouring the price though.
Anyone know If you book via a 3rd party if your still able to get airmiles with the airline?
Thanks,
MM
So they said they will honour all the tickets?
however this is likely booked under W class (deep discounted economy) so you (and me too) will get only 25% of base miles flown.
I think round trip LHR-BKK-AKL is 24000 miles, so we might get around 6000 miles for our efforts.
The question is which program (of Star Alliance membership) allows higher than 25% of base miles flown on Thai W class ticket.
Have yet to book hotels and care hires etc.
A lot of these will be non refundable so it will be good to get a certainty.
Should be around 6000 miles (25% of flown miles)
