Tiny monthly fee for tiny amount of data, minutes and text....but hey it's cheaper than a SIM only and it includes a (refurb) phone.

I have a HTC One Mini 2 and it DOES play Pokemon Go... though it's pretty janky. Wont play Fallout Shelter though. Either way I likely will stay away from HTC from now on. Can't say I was impressed with this phone.

Officially no, but yes there is a CyanogenMod 5.1.1. release which I was going to give a try

didn't look into that but they are usually glitchy still. I picked up an iPhone 5c unlocked good condition for £30 on Facebook always worth spending some time looking for a second hand phone

Yep crap phone. Screen broke easily and the previous model was much nicer to use.
What's the point in buying a smart phone if you have no data allowance

I think you might be missing the point of the post.
* It's £5 a month which includes (albeit small amount of) 4G data
* You get a phone for free with a 12 month warranty which for any light user, is just fine
Are you really comparing buying a 2nd hand phone with no idea of it's history to this when you also have to add the price of a contract on top?

This should be blazing, I pay £5 a month on giffgaff but with this you get slightly more data, can just sell the phone off for atleast £50.
