Cracking price for a Genuine Les paul USA, I don't think there's been a cheaper way to get a full fat Gibson Les Paul before, these are well reviewed. If P90s aren't your thing then the 50s tribute with humbuckers is on amazon at £599, which is also a great price.
"The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute 2016 T includes all the essential elements needed to rock in classic style, with two gnarly P-90 pickups and slim '60s neck profile, alongside the classic combination of a solid carved maple top with chambered mahogany body for tone with the full Les Paul pedigree. With authentic vintage-style finishes Gibson presents a guitar with the look of a well-played original, while the instrument's unbound body and fingerboard keep it simple. Features common to Gibson USA's 2016 Traditional range include Gibson's original neck width of 1 11/16th at the nut, historic neck heel shape, standard quality 'green key' tuners. This guitar has a traditional Graph Tech nut, and a thicker, one-piece rosewood fingerboard with a hand-rubbed oil finish for enhanced beauty and a plush feel."
Obviously you're best off trying a guitar in a shop before you buy, but we all know and love Amazon's CS should anything be amiss.

I bought the SG in the tribute series, sent it straight back. Build quality was woeful, paint chips, dent in front, rough ar*e edges on the neck, very disappointed. Probably just unlucky, but reading some reviews on Gibson quality, it makes me wonder.

You've just started playing? Well, you'll be awful to begin with, unless you're 16 with all the time in the world a tutor might not be a bad idea, and learn your scales, you'll regret it later if you don't!
Tone and volume controls are your friend, especially on a les paul, you'll be able to get as much/more tone out your guitar than your amp by rolling the knobs.

Yep. Just try saying "sod off it's my money I'll buy what I like" into the mirror. After a few practices you'll be ready for your first 'gig'.

Duff - look on You Tube. There are dozens guitar courses and hundreds of tutorials. Justinguitar is a good one to start with. Or just pick an easy tune that you have wanted to learn and put it in the YouTube search with 'learn' or 'tutorial' on the end to get half a dozen different lessons on how to play it.
We got an Epiphone Genesis last year after seeing a great deal on Ukhd. It was £220 with a hard case, delivered - it's an awesome guitar. Don't think you haven't got a decent guitar just because you didn't pay big bucks. Both Epiphone and Yamaha make great 'cheap' guitars. I was in Dawson's a few months ago and a guy was playing one of their £120 tele copies through a £100 amp and it sounded fantastic. Lower end guitars have really come on and sometimes you are simply paying more for the name.
I bought one of these in the Prime Day sale. It was a fair bit cheaper than the current price so if you are prepared to wait you might do better on Black Friday. Still a decent price though and the one I bought was excellent quality. No concerns about the build at all. Gig bag was a bit rubbish though.

But there is no guarantee at all that this will be featured in their next Black Friday sale is there? So how much did you pay?

Ordering online, c'mon! You can't beat demoing a guitar in a dusty music shop. Its a rite of passage.

Bought this from Amazon a few months ago. Pile of ****. Sent it back and got a beautiful PRS SE instead from Andertons.
