Sign up to Which? magazine subscription for £1 and instantly you'll receive a £20 discount voucher via email (off orders over £150). This can then be cancelled before your sub trial ends. Use the voucher for the Dyson. I checked everywhere and this is the cheapest I could find.
Dyson Outlet on eBay are selling the same V6 model for £179.99. But they are refurbished models.
NOTE. You have to sign up for the which trial via the link on the appliancesdirect website. I was wondering why I signed up directly a couple of days ago and didn't get a voucher. that's why.

how are these on long piled rugs? with my old upright Dyson the spin part of the head can be turned off so it doesnt tangle. Do these tangle? does the spin turn off leaving just the suction?

Also, from research, the only difference between the purple and silver V6 and the maroon V6 Absolutes (which are £80-100 more) is the Absolute comes with more accessories for different floor types and it has a HEPA filter for allergy sufferers. A filter that traps pollen or other allergens which the standard V6 does not.
IMO the premium is not worth it even though I have a mild dust-mite allergy myself.

I'm sure some users on here said the v6 battery life isn't great compared to the absolute. although I'm not 100% sure as I own neither.

Good to hear. Eagerly waiting for mine to arrive. Me and my partner both hate vacuuming with the hot, noisey, heavy and tangly vacuums we've had over the years. This will be a revolution for us.

I found the same with our animal version. We spoke to a dyson demo woman last weekend just by chance and she told us how to clean it. Hold the battery with two hands so your thumbs rest on the opening lever, then the gunk drops out. Press again to get the dust bowl off, then brush around the metal filter. This is the bit i didn't know - you have to bash the exposed open plastic tube thing on some softish surface, - we've just done that, and lots of crusted up dust was dislodged from high up. I'm sure this would have caused a problem with clogging sooner or later. You have to also clean the small filter - did that today too, and with a bit of rinsing, then tapping/banging, quite a bit more crud (i.e. compressed fine dust) dropped out of that. The problem is the crud can't be seen until it's dislodged - i though mine was really clean until today.

Good spot. I read that as meaning the brush head (which has its own motor and spins) has more power but the suction power is the same.
Yeah I briefly contemplated whether it was worth paying the huge premium for the V8 but as that is so new, you would have to pay close to the MRRP and over double what you're paying with this deal for incremental performance increases.
Either way you have got a good cleaner. The v6 is generally all you need. I looked at the v8 and the price difference wasnt worth it at all.

Mine arrived earlier today. Ordered 3 days ago. Build quality is top notch, packaging is great. After trying the V6 on our carpet, the performance seems exceptional. A large amount of dust and debris was left in the bin compartment after literally 10-15 seconds of vacuuming over the carpet - I was blown away. We know the carpets here needed vacuuming but still, I couldn't believe how much it picked up in such a short amount of time. I think what leads to this performance isn't just the suction but the motor in the suction head that powers the bristles that dig and lift up the dust from the surface.
Can update on performance after I've used it more but bloody hell, this looks like a revolution for us.

The biggest differences between standard and absolute are power rating when you use attachments (aside from the hepa filter) the absolute is meant to have more power than the animal which in turn has more power than the normal v6. I'm not entirely sure they have the same battery but I know certain attachments don't work with certain models. This is a good deal for the standard vacuum though if you aren't worried by the powered attachments. The normal ones all work fine and the same between them all apparently. I have a dc58 (now rebranded v6) at work and a v6 absolute at home and all the toolkits work on both :-)

Thanks for the info. You got a link or source to those claims - I couldn't find any info that says the Absolute has more power when using attachments? I mean how would this work when they all have the same motor and battery?

Obviously it does depend on the size of the house.

Whoa I feel like a slob now, once a day?! Guess that's why we need one of these to encourage vacuuming regularly. We vacuum barely once.....a month now as the vacuum we have is so noisey, hot and blows out more dust than it seems to suck up after I used it to pick up loads of filler dust from sanding.

Not true. They have the same battery and 'Up to 20 minutes of powerful fade-free suction'. Bloody confusing though why they have so many models.
