It's incredibly rough around the edges, and the whole concept gets old very, very quickly. It almost feels like they dragged out the levels to lengthen gameplay without considering that players might get tired of the thing.
Still... it's not exactly TERRIBLE.

Agreed that the different fps time periods do outstay their welcome and 1 level in each area would be plenty. This is an old school fps in every sense. Whether for better or worse overall is up to you but be prepared for zero indication of where to go next, endlessly respawning enemies and snipers impossibly hidden.
On the plus side if you're a fan of old FPS games (Mohaa, Unreal Tournament, Tribes and Quake 2 in particular) then you'll get some chuckles/nostalgia from playing it as it pastiches those by having a guy undergoing a neural scan then waking up as a cyborg esque soldier in a futuristic fps war.
There's a reasonable attempt at a story too with voice acting from Robert Florence (Consolveania, VideoGaiden, Burniston) and of course this is based on a book by Christopher Brookymre.
On a side note I'd say that the book 'Ready Player One' handles the video game nostalgia trip in a more cuddly way.

Look terrible though.

Deliberately so as it apes the graphics of games such as Quake 2. Also the unity engine is a bit guff for graphics.

I looked at some reviews on YouTube and meant about the gamelan more than the graphics.

Unity isn't guff at all. It's very good, just not in direct graphical comparison to UE/CRY.

Great idea, poorly executed. I was really excited to try this but it's clunky and honestly feels like a chore to finish. The narrative also isn't that funny. Your time is worth more than this game.

They often don't seem to get the same level of polish as other engine games which means the performance isn't great but perhaps that's to do with smaller teams lacking the time to optimise rather than the platform itself.

Avoid at all costs, it'll ruin your memories of the old days. Good idea, poorly done. The book it's based on is a letdown too imo
