They should make it illegal to sell them! Some people don't ever maintain them so they end up 20-30 meters tall along the whole the border and kill everything in their shadow! They cause so many neighbourly disputes and are a pain to cut down and remove the ginormous stumps, that's if the council even allow you to!

Thinking about getting a few for privacy, back garden is overlooked and the neighbours are very nosy!
Do they grow really high and wide? I only want them a few meters high and not too wide really.

Yes they grow very wide and high, but it's fine as long as when they get to the size you want you keep them trimmed. Then they will eventually become box shaped.
