I have one of these from the Currys deal. It's a bit plasticky, Wi-Fi is also patchy and prone to just not working after a while. Hard to recommend as a tablet device, especially once factoring in Windows isn't a great tablet OS.
I was about ready to put it down as another one of my cheap gadget purchases that would forever live in the draw of unused trinkets until the latest Windows update. Windows now has a Project to this PC feature which turns the device into a miracast receiver. Very handy to throw in my rucksack so when I'm out and about and a bit short of screen real estate I can prop this alongside my laptop as a wireless second screen.
As a tablet device save your money, Windows doesn't work great as a tablet OS, full desktop apps don't work well on a tiny screen. But £50 is pretty cheap for a wireless display. Windows even keeps full touch functionality to the transmitting device.

It depends what you want it for. I'm a full on geek so having a tiny laptop makes sense for me. I had a nook hd+ before, the screen was better on that. But it was long in the tooth and slow.
I think android is a cleaner, better os on a tablet personally, but this is fast enough for anything you would do on a basic laptop. Browsing and office work fine. The 2gb of ram is much better than the 1gb I had in the tesco connect so it is faster. Fast enough for me anyway.
The real bonus for me is that you can connect to just about any display or tv, and I use it on holiday to get photos off of my camera. (Xd card bleurgh). I also use it for emulators with an xbox 360 controller. The screen is fine just the nook was exceptional.
So it depends this is more flexible, but you have to put up with a more clunky os. Windows works OK on a tablet, but there are times when you become aware you are missing a mouse and keyboard. (you could have one of course, but that feels like it would be missing the point)
Someone on the last thread recommended a keyboard from gearbest I think for a 10 inch tablet. It works but is a bit of a kludge. I'm happy with that and it can be handy. To be fair I use it as a tablet most of the time so it can't be that bad in tablet mode!
All just my opinion obviously YMMV

Archos products generally do get hot...
...and then they die.
I speak from bad experience.

I have one of these from a previous deal, I have been very pleased with it. Replaced a tesco connect 7 and it is much better in my opinion.

Been using this tablet for a while now, very impressed given the price (got it for the same price in a previous deal). The only nag I have is how difficult it is to find a 8.9 inch keyboard case that makes use of the magnetic pogo pins. All either for larger tablets or almost as expensive as the tablet itself.. so gotta stick with the cheap generic tablet cases on eBay, well, not the worse thing one would have to endure in life I guess...
