These are great, not only for camping. They were a lifesaver when the kitchen hob went on the blink and then also when we were having our kitchen done-up.

I bought one from B&M for £7.99 + £3.99 for 4 cans of gas.
Good find anyway , hot.

These are fine if there's no wind. Even a slight breeze seems to massively reduce their effectiveness. They go through the canisters fairly quickly too.

I normally use the case as a windshield if unable to shelter in another way. At £1 (max) a canister I find these pretty convenient and efficient.

As far as wind goes, I think that most camping stoves have this problem.
And I reckon that the canisters actually last pretty well. Been using the same canister for the last 2 trips to Glastonbury.

I did see some safety concerns about these types of stoves exploding (from Australia I think) - some now have extra safety built in. Not sure on details. They're handy but I'd say take great care when using them as they have the potential to harm.
As above - use the case if there's wind.
Still a lot better with wind than Gampingaz and the like I'd say.
I do like these. They're definitely not for 'serious' adventurers and quite expensive to run.
But they are great for occasional use, especially if you don't have to carry them far or aren't bothered by the weight/size.
(I often take one in to Glastonbury Festival - but have a trailer towed by a push bike, so not bothered by the space it takes up.)

I used one of these about 5 years ago. The weather wasn't great, but in one weekend I went through 3 canisters. 15 mins to boil a kettle of water was pretty annoying. For the past couple of years I've been using a Trangia with a gas conversion. A 500g canister (about £6???) lasts the best part of a week and will boil a kettle in about 4 mins, even in blustery conditions.
When I did Duke of Edinburgh (many years ago!) even the basic propane 'burner on the top of the cartridge' backpacking stoves were far faster than these cheap briefcase things that look like they run on a bottle of hairspray.

This is clearly where you've been going wrong - this stove runs best when you plug a cylinder of hairspray!

Heat (lots of it!) OP.
Search for "Milestone Camping Gas Canisters" on fleabay. £7.99 for 4 and they are equipped with explosion-proof CRV technology (countersink release vent).

If you have somewhere safe to store the canisters its cheaper to buy a case of them.
