As for the EFTA point. That's not free. Switzerland pay as much as they'd pay to be in the EU for that membership, and as a member of EFTA they actually abide by almost all EU law and trade deals.

The reason Switzerland isn't in the EU is mainly because they have no desire to make their banking sector transparent and the country has a history of neutrality and avoiding the world stage as much as possible. They rejoice in not getting involved and taking a backseat. And to be fair, they're a pretty rich country for having such closed practises.

I run a UK business and I HATE exporting to Switzerland. Aside from the forms, I hate having to explain to customers there how the price they'll pay will be higher because of their import taxes etc. It's a massive pain.

Switzerland is the:

- highest growth market for UK exports over the last decade after China
- fastest growing importer of services from the UK in absolute numbers
- UK’s second most important market for service exports

Switzerland is within EFTA.... They can do what they please, as they are an independent nation, one of the richest, and one of the lowest employment rates in the world (~4%). They refused to join the EU, like Norway and I didnt see any kind of apocalypse happen.

Not if you ask the seller to write it up as personal goods, no custom charges. i tell these indian and chinese sellers to do it and ive never once been charged for customs and tax etc..

Still don't know where £225 comes from. Current rate is 1.29 Swiss francs to the pound. So 299 / 1.29 = £231.78. And that's if you have a card with zero fees that gives you the actual rate. Am I missing something?

You still have to pay VAT (it's exempt for services & businesses, not goods). Custom duties will be pretty high as well. You're pretty much going too pay £300+ for this in total. Good deal for people in Switzerland, definitely not for us.

Just one question. How did you get 225? I get 231 at the currents bank interchange rate.
