Read about it yesterday. Major Nelson has stated it's for a 'limited time' in the US.
But with the release of the Xbox One S upon us. I'd like to assume that it could only be a globally permanent price drop, no?

Does this require a genuine Swiss postcode for the billing address, or will it go through with one chosen at random?

You still have to pay VAT (it's exempt for services & businesses, not goods). Custom duties will be pretty high as well. You're pretty much going too pay £300+ for this in total. Good deal for people in Switzerland, definitely not for us.

Still don't know where £225 comes from. Current rate is 1.29 Swiss francs to the pound. So 299 / 1.29 = £231.78. And that's if you have a card with zero fees that gives you the actual rate. Am I missing something?

Not if you ask the seller to write it up as personal goods, no custom charges. i tell these indian and chinese sellers to do it and ive never once been charged for customs and tax etc..

I'd bite at this if not for those pesky customs charges, after customs charges I bet it would be cheaper to buy a 1TB Slim.

Good luck asking Microsoft to defraud customs to avoid paying tax,
All you guys worried about tax, If you manage to order without it charging you extra for tax at the checkout I'm sure Microsoft pick up the cost

Switzerland is the:
- highest growth market for UK exports over the last decade after China
- fastest growing importer of services from the UK in absolute numbers
- UK’s second most important market for service exports
Can't be that bad huh?
Switzerland is within EFTA.... They can do what they please, as they are an independent nation, one of the richest, and one of the lowest employment rates in the world (~4%). They refused to join the EU, like Norway and I didnt see any kind of apocalypse happen.
I think you're in denial buddy, not me. Britain voted out, get over it...

Yeah.
Your first points... all because it's a dodgy tax haven.
That's our banking sector (services) exporting cash to avoid tax in Switzerland.
Hurrah.
As for the EFTA point. That's not free. Switzerland pay as much as they'd pay to be in the EU for that membership, and as a member of EFTA they actually abide by almost all EU law and trade deals.
The reason Switzerland isn't in the EU is mainly because they have no desire to make their banking sector transparent and the country has a history of neutrality and avoiding the world stage as much as possible. They rejoice in not getting involved and taking a backseat. And to be fair, they're a pretty rich country for having such closed practises.
I run a UK business and I HATE exporting to Switzerland. Aside from the forms, I hate having to explain to customers there how the price they'll pay will be higher because of their import taxes etc. It's a massive pain.

So expect customs and VAT on top (unless you get very very lucky).
Off the top of my head that'll bring it in around £300.
Good practice if you want to experience what buying things from Europe will be like in a couple of years mind.

The EU is not the world.
