You'd only have 4 ports left, and you'd be a power socket down... :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm using my old cable router as a switch but would prefer to just have direct cables into powerlines, less messy.

Does anyone know if these are compatible with the older 200mbit plugs?

Yes, they are. I've got 200 and 500 ones on my network and they all work.

I've got these and used them with some older 500Mb/s and found that the network automatically dropped to the slowest speed. When I replaced the older TP Link 500Mb/s with more of these the speed went back to 1200Mb/s. So they are compatible but you'll get slower speeds.

Dammit, knew that didn't look right! Must work on my maths... ;-)

Why are they putting the ports on the top of these?!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's to prevent the network cable from tangling with whatever device you plug through the passthrough.

Watch out, these use the Qualcomm chip that causes occasional drop-out in connection.
You need to look out for Broadcom based plugs if you want non non interrupted connection.

good to know, but how do we know which one is based on Qualcomm and which one is based on Broadcom? is there a website to tell?

Right now, 600/1200 products are Qualcomm, 1000/2000 products are Broadcom.
The numbers (600 etc) are chosen by the chipset vendor, they tend to be pulled out of someones **** and thus are not really comparable from one chipset vendor to another. As in, 600Mbps (QCA) products are not necessarily slower than 1000Mbps BCM ones, they often bench faster. But they seem to have worse stability

For the 1 port version not the 2 port, can't seem to link directly to this.

Dunno whether to wait for the 2 port version to drop as the lowest it's ever been according to camelx3 is £46.99
