Issue with power line adapters is its all theoretical anyways. Mostly likely this also means 600up 600down rather than a flat 1200 to what's needed most. Either way great prices for gigabit passthrough. Almost got a 600 passthrough for £31 the other day! My current wiring is on the frits sadly :/

good kit for good price. got TP link starter ones with 100mbit/s the transfer rate is very high between the connectors - 90mbs/s.

Whatever it means - it will be slower than a gigabit ethernet.
Powerline is not duplex, which means bandwidth being split between uplink and downlink. Effective speed will be no higher than 0.6 gigabit. Gigabit port is required thought, because there is nothing between 100 Mbit and gigabit. 100 Mbit would be much slower than 600 Mbit.

There's a utility on the included CD or the TP link website that will show you the actual connection speeds between all the powerline adaptors on your network.
Always plug them directly into the wall. Extension cables and surge protectors will make these things struggle.

Do you mean MB or Mb and what timeframe, presumably per second? The reason I'm being picky is because it actually matters and that's why we have the definitions of Megabytes and Megabits represented case sensitive.

You'll never get 1.2Gb out of a 1Gb port either which is what the sentence says/means, despite using Mb and Gb when they could have just stuck to one or the other and they made an error saying GB instead of Gb.

Excellent, anyway back to the point which is, you mean 140MB/s or 140Mb/s of which 140Mb/s is 17.5MB/s so you see it actually does matter to be correct doesn't it as I'm sure you can spot a large variation there.
So to clarify things do you mean on average you're likely to see 140MB/s from these Homeplugs or 17.5MB/s?

In my Experiance 500s get around 60Mb/s so as these are MIMO I would expect 140Mb/s :smiley:

anyone know if these will work across consumer units?
I've a set of netgear 1200 that don't work properly (or at all) between our garage and house due to (i believe) the garage and house being on two separate consumer units.

No they don't usually work bridging consumer units in my experience. Various ring mains through one consumer unit, never a problem. More than one consumer unit haven't seen one work yet.

No homeplug will work for you, you will have to run ethernet or try a wireless repeater. Problem is Kingspan which is commonly used in garages reflects wifi

For me, that's a selling point. Most passthrough units seem to have the port of the bottom but that means that low down wall sockets might not be usable, or the ethernet cable is really bent at the neck, against the floor, to to get into the adaptor. These are perfect for most of the sockets in my house.

I use a pair of AV500s and a single Trendnet TPL-406E and get 30-35mb/s all around the house on the wired connection. Besides the additional pass-through would there be any additional benefits of upgrading two of the powelines to these but leaving the third as an AV500 as I understand that all three will be restricted by the AV500 is that correct?

Worth upgrading from my current netgear nano 100mbps? My internet connection is only 15mbps and I use the wired connection for a roku box only. Would love 2 ports to also plug in the PC

Reserved the last one. I already have some slower TP link adapters connecting my router to the living room - if I change the one on the router for one of these and put the other in my son's room... will the existence of the slower one in the living room affect their performance adversely? I'm user of D-Link AV500 PLCs in whole house and I'm thinking about upgrade to AV2... just because 3 (!) of my devices just stopped working (withing few months, after 1 or 1.5 years of working) and it's quite hard to get them now. Nobody can say it yet, but worst thing is if new ones would stop functioning after next year or so... PITA to guess which are good quality.
