Seems like a great price, most of the refurb electricals from Argos looks new, that I have had in the past. This was retailing at £119.99 on this link just back on 29/06/16.

I have to agree however you need to add the price of an external hdd to this laptop as 32gb is not enough.
so if a hdd is around 50 that brings the total to 130.
you could get a good second hand laptop with 4 gb memory for that price so why bother with this one.
I'm more of the opinion that a laptop should not ship with such low spec. It won't work very well when background tasks are running such as Windows update and the memory is all consumed and it's unusable

Not at all, the majority of my documents are automatically saved to one cloud service or another, in 2016 there is simply no need for large storage at the end user level. With cloud storage and NAS being so cheap it makes no sense to store things locally and have the danger of a failure

People will complain about the processor as usual but for £80 who cares! Decent little browser or word processor for the kids or a cheap computer to travel with etc and not worry about it breaking.

They also have this Lenovo for the same price! £79.99.
That is a slightly better deal IMO as the celeron n3050 1.6ghz in this one scores 916 and the n2840 2.16ghz in the one you have posted a link to scores 1045 on cpubenchmark. Though you get 2 inches more screen with the Toshiba, not much in it though.

Spot on! you can get refurb i5's from reputable Ebay sellers for £110-£130 so as you say, when you most likely need to spend £30-£50 on a new drive anyway, it doesn't make sense to buy something with as low a spec

What reputable ebay sellers please? I'm after something small and light for travelling with.

32gb is ample for a machine like this, some people will only ever use this for writing a cv and browsing the web, in which case you could argue this is overkill

Or ideal for the children, for basics, homework or even just browsing etc

Nothing to do with documents. I think you are missing the point.
Windows 8.1 x86 requires 16gb hard drive space and 1gb memory. That only leaves 16 gb to play with on the hard disk and the remaining memory will be consumed by installed software and background tasks.
When you install Windows updates, office etc the hard disk will be full.
You will have to remove mcafee and all the Toshiba bloatware to free up memory and cpu.
a good nas box that provides some form of raid is not cheap and if you were going down that road you wouldn't be in the market for such a low spec laptop.
Could argue all day about this but the fact is that as another user has pointed out you could buy a refurbished usiness Dell laptop on eBay for around 130
