I thought new TomToms had updates for life.

You don't need to have all that, just buy a Dual sim 7inch Phablet for about £35 on eBay with Android, WiFi and GPS built in add an SD card, 8GB should be enough and down load Here maps for life. Just download the maps you require and say you are going to France on a holiday, you can remove on your return and next year if going to Spain, put Spain on for the duration of the holiday or if you have enough space you can leave them on and they will be updated automatically when you put the WiFi on.
You say you don't like having your phone stuck to the windscreen, so where do you stick your TomTom?
Seems like you will still have your phone beeping and buzzing in your pocket.

is anyones order showing as in progress and not in tomtom home, I am getting no where with them and opened a case with paypal, I know only 20p but its the principle, they aren't responding to questions through their website but up date paypal to tell me to contact them through the site. hopeless.

tomtom are hopeless, ordered 2 speed cameras and one map, map took 4 days to go to complete and not in progress speed cameras are the same but now 6 days and nothing, opened a contact them ticket got a response in say its taking longer to process no update. did the maps updates a couple of years ago and had the same issue. so slow, and not the best customer service

UPDATE:
TomTom services on the Sat Nav two days ago started showing as "Cameras-Upto-Date" though not showing an until date. But that may be because I have a 2008 purchased GO 520T. Expecting it to be for three years, but I'll have to wait and see :neutral_face:

Managed to get 3 years worth a few days ago. All went well, showing as updated subscription until 2019 etc on my sat nav.

There are no fixed speed cameras round my way, however there are numerous mobile (van) traps that are also listed on the government website advising where they are. My sat nav does NOT alert me to any of these. So perhaps a waste of 60p eh...? I don't speed anyway so not much odds I guess...

Not sure if anyone has noticed when attempting to update the tom tom post order a day or two later you get a message advising problem with the postal address

I found it only worked twice per email address. But then just making up an email address and going again with a new account worked fine! Can just link back to your normal amount at the end and all the subscriptions still stack. Thanks OP.

No. I used windows 7 and chrome browser with incognito window or firefox with private window.
You need to close browser after each purchase.

That's doesn't happen for me though, address field is not blank, has Poland as shipping address and cannot be changed.

Somebody posted earlier, just go into TomTom UK, order something, charger whatever, click pay. You then have to login to your account.It shows address details as blank, just put your correct details in press "save" Then alter ordered unit to "zero" that means order auto cancels and disappears from page. If you look in your Profile you will see your address details are back to normal.

bought three years camera subscriptions via Polish site, received two emails from TomTom and one from PayPal per order.

Connected my GO520 to TomTom home, it auto scanned for updates and there they were all the countries of Europe camera subscriptions. Now even though I only have the UK and Ireland Map, I downloaded all of them onto the satnav.

Now whilst the sat nav was still connected to TomTom Home 2.9 and opting to use my sat nav via my PC if I go into "TomTom Services" click on "Speed Cameras" it states "Cameras up-to-date". Yet when I disconnect from TomTom home and switch on my sat nav go into "Speed Cameras" it states : Last updated: Out-of-date

How can i get my shipping address back to UK? I've tried doing a dummy order on UK site but it stills shows as Poland and polish postcode, and won't let me edit them.

I have one annoying problem stopping me from getting it ordered...

It keeps automatically showing the @address of my secondary Tom tom... this is not the one I want to add camera alerts to and I can not change the email address it wont let me reset it on the Tom tom site with the deal.

I travelled over to France recently. The info I had looked up stated it had to be a live service ones that would actively pic up radar. I could not get my Sat-nag (maps only) to work properly over there anyway.
After reading your post and after wanting to add traffic/alerts I had another look into this.
I'm pretty shocked they had indeed included an update to their laws to include all devices that could indicate fixed as well.
I did find an interesting article from the telegraph online:
"The fine if French drivers use or have these systems is €1,500, plus six points on their driving licence"
“difficult to know about the position regarding English/Bristish drivers as there is no agreement between England and France on this subject”.

"If English/British drivers don’t use a specific system which indicates the presence of speed cameras, policemen aren’t allowed to inspect a GPS or a mobile phone to verify the existence of such a system without cause."

So if a UK citizen had a device they could lock/security screen code, locked their screen and then could not remember the unlock code. They might be ok... providing its not a known GoLive model or similar.

Okay, looking at this page (http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17852/locale/en_GB) I have a START 45M which is not listed under MyDrive so I presume I have to use TomTom HOME. Still don't understand how long I have remaining.

I'm really confused. I use TomTom HOME on the Mac as MyDrive does not want to recognise the device (I've tried two different Macs!)

10 years!!! I won't be able to afford a car (or at least drive it) in 10 years time as the new Mayor of London thinks only people with a car less than 5 years old are allowed here in London. Do you also think the driverless car will need a SatNav?

Download and install my drive to ur PC and observe the expiry date of ur purchase. Updates are automatic on live devices or each time via tomtom home for older devices.

Mine was new initially and then transitioned to in progress. All 3 of them.
Install my drive on ur pc to see the expiration date.

purchased 6 times for my tomtom 730 go
1 was purchased on the uk site @£3.99 the other day
5 were purchased on polish site @ 20p
when i log i to tomtom account via tomtotm website
its not showing the uk one although that installed fine on tom tom and is working fine

and 2 are showing as NEW

I will give it another try using a different email.I have just cleaned laptop so shouldn't have any traces of data too identify me.
I had updated my tom tom prior too trying this so maybe there was a file identifying me left hanging around.

Just try again without identifying it

You can set up a new email address, buy the years in your new Tomtom ID, then switch back to your old Tomtom email address

QQ is when it asks you to identify your device with a serial number - I assume QQ means nothing ie blank blank

then attach your device via MyDrive & hey presto! it's there

Well that was a challenge but managed to purchase one year of speed camera updates for €0.97 (plus whatever my card charges as a handling fee for foreign currency?!).

Within my TomTom account, status of purchase is showing as 'inprogress'.

Nope, not that unfortunately. Just called my CC company. Also, I tried PayPal as another method and it didn't even go through to that. Just tried a different browser and the same thing. I think it must be to do with when I've logged in.

on Tuesday I did the uk one £3 whatever, then 3 Poland ones, and my tomtom 510 says lifetime susbscription tooo, on Tuesday.. Still says in progess on tomotom orders website. but device says lifetime

Yes - After purchasing several I got that message then refreshed my device only to find I have a "Lifetime Subscription".
It could be also be that your CC company has seen all the small payments coming out your account from Poland and suspended your account for possible fraud?.

I would check your TomTom device first. Then contact your bank..

I'm using a GO 540, which can only use the TomTom Home. It's updated my speed cameras on the European map as premium so all good so far. Checked my account online and like others, it states in progress.

when I go to the speed cameras section on my drive connect, it is active in all countries but in the UK it has been grayed out with a message saying that you cant use or update until the correspondent map is installed on your device. Obviously the map is installed so what is the problem?

Add something to the basket, proceed through checkout, change your address ,then proceed to the payment page, then click on your account at top it will have been changed to whatever you put in

Why does it bother you to have Poland?

I have Waze etc on my phone and MUCH prefer my tomtom.

It'd be difficult. The new tomtoms are REALLY locked down.

I try never to speed. But on the way to Brighton, the speed limit on a stretch of the dual carriageway was changed from 40 mph to 30 mph. However, there is a third bus lane, and the new speed limit sign isn't always visible, especially if a bus in the bus lane blocks your side view...
I got a speeding ticket for driving at 35 mph. I had to go to court (which was set from Brighton, no possibility of changing it), which meant 2-days and hotel accommodation for the night. I won - but what a palaver!
It is too simplistic to say that only irresponsible drivers need to know where speed cameras are.

Could the file be downloaded and converted for other sat navs i.e. to a csv file?

Watch out for those new ones around Bristol on the M5/M4 - they are catching thousands of people a month

many people reporting that a very strict 10% +1 rule is being applied, ie 67 mph when the variable speed limit says 60 will get you a ticket

Err.... saying that Google Maps is better in terms of routing (barely passable from recent or the previous Google Maps app update, hilariously erroneous until then) or such updates must be some kind of sarcastic joke, sir.
...and for Waze - I find their push to shove ads down my throat (in a way that interrupts normal app use) or "socialising" (you can't share your ETA or actually anything unless you'll sign in to Facebook) way too... repulsive to recommend it as the proper Navi replacement - yes, they work, in _cities_ with large user base.

By the way, looks like code is no longer working in the ENGLISH version of the service. Still works in Polish.

A fantastic deal. I recently bought 1 years speed camera alerts for £14.99 through their UK website. Tempted by this deal. My only worry is that TomTom find a way to rescind what you have bought as obviously this is meant for users living in Poland and you have to state during the purchase that you live in Poland. Mind you 20p is not much of a loss if they do.

Morning, I did ask the same question yesterday and it is normal to show the status "in progress". Just connect your tomtom to the pc and start mydrive connect and just install the updates. I found that if you made another purchase, there is no need to do anything at all as the date will be added without going through the whole updating progress. Check the end date and you will see it.

If you are using google translate then turn it off when you get to the payment page, otherwise the links for the payment dont work. Took me a while to figure it out.

Every device is different the ones that connect to tomtom home get the speed camera updates that way even on devices with live services unless they have an active (paid for) subscription.

I found using private browsing in chrome and unplugging my satnav stopped code errors.

You might want to remove your sunglasses and keep going... :wink: If you log in to Mydrive you will see it's not lifetime but still has an expiry date... My Tomtom device says lifetime but my PC shows the correct expiry date...

BTW - used the same TomTom e-mail account for each purchase and they stack up once you update your device. My sub. shows as ending 2021-07-04 on MyDrive Connect app.

Use private browsing and copy and paste the code. It'll be case sensitive. It didn't work for me a couple of tries. It was because I had two private windows open.

You should have Speed Camera Update on download list.

You can check it at My Content, so click My Content on top, last on page you should have "MY SERVICES" and there is:

I stayed logged in the whole time to my TomTom account however, I had to follow this method exactly to get it to accept the code each time, otherwise I kept getting an error telling me the Coupon had already been used once, or something like that..

Add the 1 year Traffic updates to your basket. Click Next. Enter address details, and change the country to Poland. Address can be anything, but you need to put a polish postcode in where required. Any old polish postcode should do it. Click Continue and keep going all the way to the Credit Card entry page, but obvioulsy dont enter details yet or you will be charged full price!. Now click the Back or Previous button on the Website (not the back button on your browser!) and keep going all the way back till you get to the homepage again. When you get there click the Trolley icon from the top of the screen it should have a 1 next to it where you added the item to basket earlier. Now you should be able to enter the coupon code Welcome15_pl in the coupon box and it should be accepted this time....

Simply proceed again to purchase another years subs for 20p. Easy!

If I didnt do this sequence exactly every it kept coming back with "This coupon can only be used once".

and its installing them,

Well I checked in MyDriveConnect and despite my device saying I have lifetime camera updates it does show the expiry date. So I added a couple more years in the hope it lasts 5 years as I only use it now and again.
$0.29 a pop using some USD I had left.
Only troubling thing is my account history shows in progress so I hope TomTom don't revoke and refund everyones transactions as it must have triggered the WTFH alarm by now, that and the obvious idiot who did a live chat/phone call to ask if it's legit as we always have one on here :smiley:

you would have to login MyDrive using the same email you made the TomTom purchase to see the update

you add each device in YOUR Drive Connect so you should have both listed before making any purchase.
When you go Polish TomTom and make a purchase using your existing MyDrive account, you are asked which device you are buying for before checkout.

After confirmed purchase. Clear cookies on TomTom Poland and revisit.

Not sure what you mean by not installed it yet? you dont need to install speed cameras...your account will show the new expiry date for the cameras subscription which means every time yuo connect your device to the computer before the expiry date, your device will be updated if there are any new additions

UPDATE: Uninstalled camera update and reinstalled. This time it came up with both Ireland and UK and I was able to select both. Camera update installed correctly and date on device has changed.
Off to buy another year or two...

I have just bought but noted something...when I check my account on My drive connect, it shows my billing address as being in Poland and I cant change it...Not fussed about it but may cause problems in future if I try to buy something from tomtom UK

Easy fix for this. Just tried myself.

I bought the map update and installed that AFTER the first camera update.
So, uninstalled camera update and straight after reinstalled camera and now all ok.

I have up till 2020, I just click the browser back button and keep all the same info, paid by paypal so far, going to try a couple more whilst i can.

Just did this with my Tomtom Start 25 which has UK & Ireland maps only but using Tomtom home it shows that I only have active speed cameras for Ireland and not the UK as "this item cannot be used or updated until the corresponding map is installed on your device". The map is up to date.
ADDITIONAL INFO My subscription date for the cameras is correct but when I go to "manage my speed cameras" it only shows Ireland in black the rest are greyed out.

Updated mine on a single update for about £11

You need to go into connected services on the tomtom itself, when you see speed cameras and click to open it you should see the revised expiry (or lifetime subscription in my case adding a 3rd year)

It's hardly "rip-off Britain", of course companies price their products differently in different countries, where wages are hugely different. You can't expect to have a globally flat price as either the company would only have customers in a few countries if the price was too high, or the revenues would be too low if the price was globally low, that the company wouldn't exist.
