*** Please do not offer or request friend referrals - they breach HUKD code of conduct guidelines **

Okay so just get the all you can eat data deal with 200 mins, go through quidco for £50 cashback.

It's normally £23 a month, but the first 6 are half price

Not the greatest deal going, but currently the best I could find considering the cost and data plan.

https://www.three.co.uk/refer-a-friend

But reading through the T&Cs it says .."8. The Qualifying Purchase must be made immediately after clicking on the Referral Link – if any other websites or advertising banners are clicked on in between following the Referral Link and making the purchase, we will not be able to track the sale as linked to your Referral Link nor will we be able to pay either party their Voucher." so good change of not getting both Quidco and Amazon vouchers unfortunately ..?

I was on the £15 all-you-can-eat deal for years and bought loads of addons before they pulled it (apparently, you can queue an infinite number of addons), but my last one runs out in just over a month. Would I be able to sign up for this now and only switch when my last addon expires?

Same.

End of contract. Will only offer me 30gb for £23.
After 3 live chats and 6 different calls I told them I was leaving and going to gift gaff, and then going to come back as new customer for 6months 1/2 price. Retentions said he would put me on Payg and then they would give me the new customer deal. Declined as I already paid for gif gaff.

18 Jul 16 1 #141
I was in the same boat like you. What I have done was asked 3 for my current contract's PAC code. Port it over to EE PAYG sim. Once it is ported, I asked EE for my PAC code so that I can port my original mobile number to this new 3 contract I signed up earlier.

It's a bit pain but worth the savings. The whole process took me within one week to complete.

Same issue. Unless I create a new account and move my old number to the new account they can't actually upgrade my current 1-month rolling contract to any of these deals. It's ridiculous. They also refuse to match any of the other deals posted here recently, such as the 30GB for £15pm contract.

If you're referring to me then you are absolutely clueless! The One Plan hasn't existed for nearly 2 years, you were contraced to it for 2 years which Three honoured, once you are out of contract then both parties have a right to end the deal - it isn't your god given right to let it continue!

Get over yourself precious!

Oh and my One Plan is still going strong...

15 Jul 16 #123
Yes, that is absolutely correct. I have unlimited data to download per month but I have to use wifi when I'm at home due to the poor data signal at home. I'm also using 3 In Touch app to make and receive calls due to the instability of the voice signal at home.

15 Jul 16 #118
I was with One plan with unlimited data as well but their network speed became so slow in my area that I could not consume more than 3gb data. I don't think they throttled me. Changing to EE restored the speed back. So unlimited data is only good if you can actually get good speed. Otherwise it is just a gimmick and very frustrating when you cannot use the web when you need it most.
sam_of_london
15 Jul 16 #117
It happened to me as well. So I left Three for EE. Mine went bad after they started LTE voice in my work area in London. Three has very less 4g bandwidth and now it's consumed by Lte voice ( Three call it HD voice) which serves no useful purpose. If your handset does not support Lte voice, you voice calls could drop as well.

This deal isn't offered for existing customers with existing numbers, pathetic on 3's behalf. Been with 3 for five years, my SIM only contract has expired this month, they wont offer me this package. They will offer me £20pcm for 200mins, unlimited texts and 30gb of data but not unlimited data which is what I want. So frustrating :disappointed:

muhammadpanchbhaya
14 Jul 16 2 #105
Its 11.50 x 6= £69 + (23 x 6)=207. Then 207-50=£157 (if you go through quidco). Hot for me it works out to be around £13
Picard123
14 Jul 16 #104
200 mins pcm isn't very useful. Catch up with a old friend or get stuck on the phone dealing a customer service dept etc, and make a few standard calls, and you've blown your monthly allowance.

I pay £23 pcm for unlimited 4G data, unlimited minutes/texts. Don't know whether that's a good deal or not compared to other phone companies but I can't be bothered to switch at the moment.
Scotty2k0
14 Jul 16 #103
I'm with Three at the moment at the signal has gone from bad to worse. The technical team have advised me to switch off 4G. They have access to my phone and signal and can see how erratic the signal is. I switched from BT mobile for unlimited data with Three. What a mistake, there seems to be no in between. You'll either get decent coverage in towns or cities then poor signal everywhere else.
brookysm
14 Jul 16 #102
It shouldn't do but it depends on your tablet. I have a Sony Z3 compact LTE and the sim woeks in that but that takes calls and texts, I also have a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 LTE which receives text messages and my sim works in that as well but I've tried a mifi which is data only and that doesn't work.

14 Jul 16 2 #101
Been with 3 for over 5 years now and can't complain about their service or signal. All you can eat data is exactly that and the signal around Yorkshire is better than from o2, Voda and EE in my experience.
patrick_000
14 Jul 16 #100
I was on three for years but switched after they got rid of the One Plan. I can't believe how much faster it is on Vodafone and how much better my signal is in London and many towns. Three have cheap deals but I won't ever go back to them unless I'm desperately poor.
brookysm
14 Jul 16 #99

14 Jul 16 #97
The One Plan hasn't existed for around 2 years now if you think £30 for that amount of calls txts and data is poor vfm then I'd like to see you find better from another provider!

Oh and the tethering limit it 30gb now on new contracts, plenty for the majority of users including myself who is a heavy data user.

That is not true. Apart from BT, Virgin Media(now owned by liberty media) and Cable and Wireless(now owned by Vodafone) also have backbone networks in UK. Three uses Virgin media. BT only has monopoly in POTS. Pain Old copper wire telephone service where they charge highest line rental in the world using their Open reach division thanks to OFCOM . Just check the mobile contract prices. They had touched the roof when Three announced it was going to buy EE . It has only come down now when EU denied the Chinese man who owns Three, permission to buy O2 due to competition rules.

kamran9558
14 Jul 16 #93
Sorry but this isn't correct but rather the other way around. BT own all the backbone of networks and three wanted to be on parity with BT which owns EE now. Brace yourself for more price hikes triggered by BT monopoly.
Also EE because of the previous mergers has all the bands required for full coverage and o2 and three both have different bands which, if owned by one company will give ee a better competition
kamran9558

It has nothing to do with 3 as it's the local network in those countries which is the issue

Do you mind telling me what happened? I once accidentally bought an add-on, I called the customer service, and they literally gave me the credit which covered the cost of that add-on. They let me keep that add-on. So I think they have pretty good customer service.

14 Jul 16 #90
This happened to me too, customer of over ten years. I understand companies need to review price plans, but what annoyed me most about this was that they said the new plan was he best they could offer, then less than a month later they are offering new customers half price for six months. Also Three, s customer service calls go to India where they haggle you if ever try leaving them. You may get a good deal if you refuse to accept their offer and stick to your guns. Then they will start calling you again and again with a slightly better offer each time and saying as a loyal customer how much you mean to them  .

14 Jul 16 #85
If you don't know the facts, you can Google them on Wikipedia etc. Three is owned by rich Chinese man from Hong Kong called Li Ka- Shing. Vodafone bought most of THE 800 band 4g bandwidth at auction. EE got most bandwidth already because it was formed by merger of Orange /Tmobile. Then BT bought EE. Three wanted to buy O2 to reduce competition and increase prices. But it has been refused permission by EU.

14 Jul 16 #83
Great deal , I'm on 3 at the moment on this tariff 1 month rolling - have 2 phones (other one is o2 and a company phone ) in Leeds where I live often can't get 4G on 3, it's often H+ indoors unless right next to a window whilst o2 is blazing fast 4G (30mbps). To be fair though, H+ speeds are still 8-10mbps which is good enough for me considering o2 is far more expensive.
sam_of_london
14 Jul 16 #82
EE/BT has 5 times more 4G bandwidth than Three. The Chinese man who owns Three did not pay for bandwidth at the UK 4G bandwidth auction. So Three suffers due to lack of 4G bandwidth.
sam_of_london
14 Jul 16 1 #81
What use is calls and data abroad when you cannot use the data connection in UK. They lack 4g bandwidth

Am on PAYG with them, can I ask how you got it that for £3 a month?
sam_of_london
14 Jul 16 #79
I get full 4g signal on three where I work. But since they started voice over LTE or HD voice as they call it, they don't have much 4g bandwidth left for Internet. They were going to buy EE and solve the bandwidth problem but now the Chinese man who owns Three has been refused permission to buy O2. So there 4G sucks due to lack of 4G bandwidth.

Never noticed how bad the Three's signal really is even within central London until I started playing Pokemon Go! Loses internet signal every other turn of corners... only on it cos it's cheap so I'd say - If you can afford it, avoid it (Three)!
MrFlux001
14 Jul 16 #71
If you're considering it, don't listen to any negative comments in here. Check your coverage, if you're good to go then get the deal. I've been with them for about 8 years on AYCE data, no complaints. Though the old 3G is faster than the 4G for me. I was getting daft speeds on 3G, mostly 25mb/s then 4G kicked in and it dropped, still fast though.
danny2107
14 Jul 16 #70
I've been on Three for 12 years, I use about 20gb of data a month without issue on an AYCE plan for £15 sim only. Only thing I don't like is paying £5 a day for data whilst in Germany.

Just to add, EE had better 4G speeds when I tried their sim but Three were better than O2 for data speeds.

14 Jul 16 #68
I use Three in London, the signal is fine and the 4G speeds are very good. I have streamed audio from Apple podcast along the motorway between London and Manchester and there are no breaks. Not tried abroad yet but others I know have and have found the service to be very good.
Good deal.

Well I found Three's Indian customer service people are very friendly myself but the retentions guy I spoke to was a liar, he offered a deal and then said the deal wasn't available anymore and he hold me on the phone for one and a half hours, I was with them for about 6 years. their data speeds have slowed right down and they have got too expensive,
sdduk2
14 Jul 16 #65
We can all get good deals if we hang about on HUKDEALS and check daily the only down side of EE is the drop calls never had one with Three also EEs network going down quite a bit lately.
Back to deals i got the Life Mobile deal a couple of weeks ago off here 4000mins, 3000text, 4gb data £1 a month thats a deal.
sdduk2
14 Jul 16 #64
So we all have to take your advise and leave Three because you had a bad experience not saying you didn't but overall most people get a good experience from Three being they still have one of the best signals in the country i was with them for years and only left January this year because they wouldn't do me a deal i wanted but there network is still fine and i wouldn't tell people to not go with them because of my experience and by the way i'm with ID Mobile which runs of Three so basically still with Three As for speed i get around about 30mg download sometime could be 50mg and about 20mg upload so great speeds and i don't live in a big place Custom service is suppose to be bad but nearly all the networks custom service is bad but if you do not need to call them like me then it don't matter.

14 Jul 16 #59
This sort of deal annoys me as a 'loyal' customer, was on AYCE at £17 for years, until recently they decided that they'd double the price.

I had to move to a plan with less data and significantly less minutes to keep my bill at that price, and now I see new customers being offered the plan doubled in price for me, at the same price I used to pay.

It's madness. The worst thing is, I've stuck with Three because other than the cheeky doubling of price, they're still best operator I've dealt with
minus222
14 Jul 16 #58
I take it this deal isn't available on a tablet only for data? I am with three data (10gb/month) only sim for tablet. Good signal outdoors, non existent indoors (which doesn't matter too much as broadband kicks in).

Great deal if you get a good signal with then. I was with 3 for nearly 10 years, moved house (same city, urban location) then my coverage reduced and I had to change providers. Indoors I couldn't even make a phonecall! Definitely worth a shot though.

I guess it depends where you live.

14 Jul 16 #48
What some people forget is that service satisfaction is not a thing written in stone.
We have 6 mobiles in the house EE, O2, 3, BT, Lyca, Virgin and Talk Mobile. We only get decent reception at home on O2, BT and Lyca Mobile every other one is really unsatisfactory.
It does really depend on your location and if like my situation where there are two transmitters at the end of the road, one of them being EE, but of no use to me as signal doesn't travel through rows of houses and walls.
If one person says they're satisfied and the other says they're not! There is no reason to doubt either one.
We as humans do not like change and quite often will put up with a lot of inconvenience rather then make or effort to leave a services provider and that is why these organisations love to have us on direct debit. As long as we don't make the effort to move they'll keep taking our money.

14 Jul 16 #46
I use three as my backup network, and when I travel to Italy.

What you noticed there is that 3 uses a VPN for all it's clients abroad using there FAH service. This is why when you check a service like "What is my IP" you get a UK ip address, with this they are able to control and manage data through, thus services like Youtube or streaming services are unusable but you can still access sites albeit slower than at home. Considering you get this as part of the service I didn't see that an issue, but after they raised the prices, I went with other networks.

Incidentally, the cost of my contract never went up. Stayed at £15 (which was a retention deal). Probably because they knew I was hardly using any data due to poor signal in Warrington area. Even though stupid signal map on their website says excellent 3g indoors and out.

There was nothing better around at the time. It was when 3G had launched that I initially joined them. And I didn't want to leave them as I knew the money I was paying was good for deal I had. But I was hardly getting a signal anywhere so was paying for nothing really. Final straw was when I was on a car park, full strength "H+", did a speed test and got less than 1Mbps. Cancelled contract the next day. Which was also a shocking experience.

Ben with three for 3 year on the £15 one plan that they stopped then the £15 ayce payg plan which they also changed the price on have been on this 200min plan for 2 months at full price just now as I was in USA for 3 weeks and wanted the use of my phone. I will be calling up to leave/get a deal using this as an example. Not great for everyone as may need more than 200 mins. But suit me.

I had great signal where I lived, however as they oversold the AYE data the contention was so poor on my tower I could rarely do anything that required data. Three admitted this and let me leave early.

Doesn't seem like an awful price though, they're not the best but can think of worse networks been with them for years their coverage in London seems decent enough

i used it this January in Austria/Italy/France/Spain

Got this a couple of days ago. 30 gb tethering and use overseas is great. Was able to use my phone in Bali! Used it in tenerife and they throttled me after just one day. Was barely usable after that. Hopefully not something they do everywhere.

Never had an issue in France, Spain or Portugal - can't speak for other countries. Often use Maps both in the car and on foot and it simply works. My OH doesn't have free roaming so hotspot quite a lot and yeah, its not "superfast broadband", but good enough for us both to be browsing/emailing etc at the same time.

In Spain you can access two partner networks, Movistar and Yoigo, and if the performance of the one you're connected to is poor try switching networks. Saying that, I'm sure I was connected via Vodaphone for a time a few weeks ago in Santander even though there's no mention of an agreement with Vodaphone.

In France I've found Orange to be pretty decent. Can't remember which network does Portugal.

No idea how to select networks on an iPhone, but with Android its under Mobile Network settings, go to Network Operators and you can disable the automatic selection and choose manually.

around Cambridge area found Three better and more consistent than EE and O2. ee is stronger in town centre but outside lots of black holes. same O2 - some villages just few miles from cambridge no signal at all. three works for me at least on 3G and 4G in centre.

I had the same in Spain earlier this year, till my 4th day when I realised I hadn't allowed roaming data connections, once I enabled that all worked fine.

they are awful for bumping up their price. from a loyal customer that was with them for 8yrs they decided to up the one plan unlimited everything from £15 to £30 with only 2000mins 2000txts and unlimited data with 4gb tethering. do you think thats fair!!!!!! you must be working for them or something

you can ask for a signal booster by calling customer services, but by all means check your coverage online first.

I must say, my experience with Feel At Home last year in Ibiza was absolutely dreadful.
I basically could not use the internet for anything 'internety' like loading Facebook, streaming music etc. I think messages were going through but that was it.

I put it down to Ibiza's networks but would love to hear some more experiences?
Muir to BraddersJ

I've used it many times in Denmark (Copenhagen). On several occasions it's been faster/more reliable than business hotel WiFi. In general it's always been good enough for the kind of things you're talking about, even watched Netflix on occasion.

My main issues have actually been in the UK due to 3 not offering a 2G connection. This means in some rural areas/on trains etc you get nothing at all, whereas on Vodafone (my work phone) I can at least make and receive calls, texts and emails.

I had crappy internet in Italy but the other European countries I've used it in have been good. Hong Kong is excellent and my sister used it in the US and that was good too.

Definitely make sure you check the coverage in your area, they're the only network which doesn't cover a single square of about 5 houses in my street (have to zoom in on their map to see it) and it's a complete black hole, I get zero signal at all at home.

Signal boxes work great though I had a black spot at work which was annoying but otherwise found it to be good except Internet speed being a bit slow sometimes
adamelphick to blaze
14 Jul 16 #17
Ask them for a home signal box. They'll try to charge you but argue the fact. It joins to your Wi-Fi and gives full 3g signal

Well that's odd. I've not used FAH in the US or in HK, but in France, Spain and Ireland I always get a near unusable data experience. This is on my current iPhone 6 Plus, and on my wife's. Previously we each had a 5S and had the same poor results. I'm very sure it's not the handsets. I strongly suspect it's a "priority" issue. Three users roaming in FAH countries are simply given a very low priority on the roaming partner's network. It's all over the Internet and some people say a workaround is to use a VPN. However, last week when I was in Ireland I tried three different VPNs and all were just as bad, if not worse, than without using it. I'm really interested in why your data experience in Three's FAH country's is so positive.

I've been with Three for a few years now. Great value for unlimited, fast 4G data. No problems at all. Previously with EE, calls used to drop and incoming calls intermittently went straight to voicemail, even when I had good signal, so I missed a few important calls. Since switching to Three I don't have this problem or indeed any problem. That said, their Feel At Home offer is a total con. Used it in France, Spain and Ireland, several times in each country. Always the same: data is at a snail's pace. Google Maps won't route, websites won't load and just time out, emails maybe get through eventually. It's useless. I'd much rather pay for proper roaming service. Feel At Home? It's nothing like being at home.
