Very dangerous and absolutely no need to use a pan due to the cheapness of fat fryers with thermostats..
Your local fire station would seriously berate you for that!

Bargain at this price. Like most cheap fryers the basket does not sit straight on the heating element. Other than that is a good little fryer. I got rid of the pan and bought this a few months ago as it is much safer. If you forget or get distracted using a pan it just gets hotter until it causes a fire. These fryers have a thermostat.

Bore off. Not everyone who fries food has chips everyday. We cook fresh food every day, no ready meals, or jarred sauces, and we try to keep it balanced. We will however make fish tacos or something similar once in a while, and need to deep fry. Whilst the pan is full of oil, we'll have churros for dessert!! Big wow. Stop being an Anus and making assumptions about people.
I have to be honest, i use my wok on the wok burner on the few occasions we deep fry. We've never had any issues. I just can't stand the smell that you can't seem to get off a deep fat fryer.
It is a great price, btw.

Depends on what oil you put in it.

Only very dangerous if you're an absolute idiot, which I was when I first started, that being said at this price I'd buy one.
I think I have the Asda version and it's really nice. It's quite small but large enough for chips for 2 people, but deep frying is pretty quick. Heating time is under 10 mins.
I'd agree that this is far safer than using a pan on a stove - you can do other things without worrying it will catch fire, and they are very stable and safe to use.
Frozen fish fingers are really nice deep fried too - but they don't mention that on the packaging

The basket on these, when raised to drain excess oil, the bracket on the basket sits outside the fryer leaving oil to run down the exterior of the unit. very poor design.

Nothing finer than chips done in beef dripping in a proper chip pan. For those who say chip pans are dangerous, I say positively not. What is dangerous is the fools who do not adequately supervise the operation, or who decide to try to fry chips after having a skinful, and then fall asleep. In a similar vein, nuclear weapons are not in the slightest bit dangerous, until some cretin decides to activate them. It's amazing that the human race has survived for so given the pervasive nature of the namby pamby attitudes which we see today. "Chip pans kill, ban chip pans", "Cars kill, ban cars", "Airplanes kill, ban airplanes", "Butter and fat kill, ban butter and fat", "Being born will eventually kill you, ban being born". In any case, they were £24.50 in my local Tesco Extra, and I'm sure I saw, if not actually wild, a pretty annoyed goose disappearing into the distance. Now, about time to produce some proper chips.

Up until a few month ago i used a cast iron pan, i prefer a pan as you cant really fry anything with fresh batter in a deep fat fryer. I switched to a deep fat fryer when my cast iron pan cracked and hot oil hit the gas flame.

If that's what you do for entertainment, you really should get out more. As for trolling, you've made 4 comments so far, 2 of them on this thread. The first one criticising people's cooking choices, the second one basically stating that you were trolling when you made that first post. Well done.
