Came across this while looking to see where was cheapest at the moment. It's rated "As new" from Boomerang rentals.
Similar to the previous games in the series, Street Fighter V features a side-scrolling fighting gameplay system. The game also introduces the "V-Gauge", which builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new skills. The game features 16 characters at launch, with 4 of them being new to the series. A story mode and additional characters are set to be added in the future through updates and downloadable content.
So the 8GB+ update i left going this morning was just that, a software update... Story Mode is ANOTHER 8GB+ download that must be manually picked from the [PS] Store. Blimey.

They really messed up this game. It's a real shame too, as there's a really good game underneath it. But for those that want value for money, SFV falls short significantly (unless you really just want to play online)

Isnt that what fighting games about playing with others in multiplayer? I'll never understand why people want to play cheating AI in a fighting game. I have played AI in Street Fighter 4 and playing the AI is unbearable. The real value of fighting games is multiplayer.

Not everyone wants to play online (or has good enough internet to play it). Plenty of times I've used the story mode as practise, even against broken/cheating AI. Heck Mortal Kombat has been pretty good for the singleplayer. No reason Capcom cannot take notes from that. Not to mention that this game had less offline features than its predecessors as as well as a god-awful 'training mode'. They need to take a leaf out of the guilty-gear series in that respect.

They dont need to do anything. Street Fighter is a multiplayer game not a single player game and there is a training mode if you really want to train or better yet play multiplayer and actually try to get better. Street Fighter is literally designed only for competitive multiplayer.

What's wrong with Street Fighters training mode? Guilty Gear has the most robust and expansive training mode i've seen in any game ever, so saying it's not as good as that I don't see as much of a criticism.

Yup, it may sound harsh but this is not a game for casuals. The lack of content is understandably an issue for many, but ultimately they will not be the ones that keep the scene alive, purchase DLC etc. 5,065 entrants at this years evo, says a lot.

The training mode is so bare-bones it does nothing to welcome new people and bring them up to speed on anything other than the very basic of attacks. Even SF4 had a somewhat better implementation of it (and that was pretty sparse too). Compare that to a game with a smaller budget like Guilty gear which actually trains you in some of the more low-level meta. 'Just playing online' is a cop-out excuse. The skill gap is so high you'll get destroyed before you'll even get a chance actually learn what's going on (Not to mention the online has been so shaky since launch, plus it's major rage-quit problem). Instead Capcom decided to focus on their zenny bucks/DLC system which funnily enough has also had to be pulled back.
Again, like Guilty gear (which is far from casual), you can welcome in casuals and train them up, while still maintaining the high level play. As a result of how Capcom has been handling of this, its sales suffered pretty badly. Like I said before, it's a fantastic game mechanically but it's so incomplete from what was promised; often late/failing with DLC content as well as its multiple issues online. Their narrow focus on the FGC/Capcom tour has cost Capcom to miss their sales targets by over half-a-million copies.

I find it funny how people target Street Fighter V for a lack of content when a game like Overwatch is even worse for a lack of content but that got no hate at all.

Overwatch should have been cheaper on consoles for sure. The flipside is all new characters and gameplay elements are free updates in that game - with micro being cosmetics. SFV unfortunately tries to have it's cake and eat it with paywalled characters (unless you're willing grind of course).
