It was changed for an expansion to a stand along game around the same time or before LoV was released.

Completed wings of liberty and heart of the swarm some time back...brilliant games! Waiting for the third installment to come down to this kind of price and will complete that!

all over this. the original StarCraft was one of my favourite RTS games when I was young. I finished wings of Liberty so long ago though. can't remember for the life of me what happened in it.
