Fine if you have a massive area . I have a tennis court size lawn + a front lawn and find the hand spreader more than adequate for overseeding and applying fertiliser/weedkiller. http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/saxon-lawn-fertilizer-spreader-374077 or the evergreen model available on EBay at a similar price . Got one of these years ago but have always used the hand held one ,the roller one is at the back of the shed . If you do need one of these and live near a Homebase http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/evergreen-easy-spreader-plus-677550 might be a slightly cheaper option, unless of course you live in Wales.

Only suitable for up to say 50 SQM max. A 'broadcast spreader' is needed for 50SQM > with granular fertlizer applications.

Err ! How wrong you are . A Tennis court is about 250 square metres . Would you like to redo your maths before posting obviously incorrect info?

Sadly not - Do the maths! 50 sq metres is about 7m x 7m (about 2 garages if that makes it easier) - you could do it by hand in 2 or 3 mins :laughing: - are you sure you don't mean 500 sq mtrs? Hardly a need for a spreader of any kind for 50 sq metres ! Your 20 years have been wasted I'm afraid, but I'd rather believe you may want to recheck your maths .

Apply fertilizer by hand!, this is 2016 not 1916!!!
The hand held spreader that you use on your 250 SQM+ lawn would be hard work and likely to be very inaccurate.
You would be far better investing in a Earth Way broadcast spreader, sadly their best spreader the industry standard C22HD or C22HDS has been discontinued in the UK but is available from the States.
If you can source one of those you would save a lot of work.

A bit of advice - when you are in a hole stop digging ! - just admit you got the maths wrong in your original comment and leave it at that. On my 18 metre by 14 metre lawn (ish) I have to walk up and down it 4 or 5 times (spreading seed or fertiliser/ weedkiller a total of say 80 to 100 metres - hardly work ! and I do it twice weekly to mow it ! As I said stop digging your hole, and don't mention the firm you have obviously not worked for for 20 years as I think their orders would dry up pretty quickly if they charge on your view of 50sq metres :confused:
