The first of the custom RX480 graphics cards have been released - Sapphire have the 4GB model at £199 + delivery at Overclockers. There is an 8GB version for £239 and an OC 8GB version for £249:
Nothing to do with it buddy, it's the same every new gen whether it's intel's new architecture or NVidia or amd, there is always the same crap "oh this is the price", the same arguments on exchange rates etc.etc. you'd think in this day n age more people would catch on, I mean google is right there, there has always gouging until stock meets or surpasses demand and you always get these morons that pay the gougers price then condone it to others on forums, people on here that have been buying and following tech will tell you it's the same every single time, yet we still get these people stating its a good price and it won't drop and exchange rates mean nothing $200 dollars is the same as £200 because of economy lmao all this ridiculous bull.
In two months these cards all of them will be were they are supposed to be and if you covert $200 dollars to pounds then add 20% tax you'll find that's is around the price we'll be paying give or take £5.
As for the pound being weak that's just more bull it means nothing to people in the u.k. it still costs us the same its only when shopping outside the u.k. and that won't even last long this brexit crap means nothing those morons down the road will try to back out, the people voted out, end off, if they go back it will be the end of democracy in the u.k.
I don't care how our pound looks over the water I only care how were being screwed here in our own back yard and how many people mistakenly think that brexit is the cause of these price hikes, don't kid yourself it's all excuses and smoke screens, fear mongering at it's best, what really **** me off is very few people actually look into it they just spout the same crap they heard others say instead of looking into it themselves, I get it takes time to read up and understand but people really should be more informed, and today there is no excuse the internet is right there, it's not like back in the day where you rely on a news papers, the news or the library we have a world wide web and yet people are still clueless.
Really embaressing, how many times does the same thing need to keep happening before people click on?
The better news is this time around there's more people holding off on these prices more people are catching on, but there's still so many morons that want one now, I must have the newest and best, then tell them self and others its a good price and it won't drop bla, bla, bla, it always does, just wait till asus, msi, gigabyte, pny, evga etc all have in stock piles of 1060's or 480's then there all fighting over who gets the sales the first to act wins usually with the btr price, then bang fire sale.

I feel like it's worth just paying the extra £30ish for an AIB 1060? It seems to OC really well, lower temps, power draw etc. I'm a bit disappointed with the 480 UK pricing to be honest and I think it will hurt AMD's sales, $200 apparently equals £200+ here

Everyone knows there is an associated price premium for new items, and that in the U.K for whatever reason we are charged a premium on top of whatever the conversion of currencies should indicate. I didn't see anyone disputing that.
Of course the £ being at 30yr + low level has an effect on the cost of goods here. Only an imbecile would claim otherwise, oh wait......
Whether you care or not means fcuk all, the fact is that a weak £ makes anything that is imported more expensive. Are you too simple to have noticed the cost of fuel (which will filter down to all goods as they have to be transported) has been going up from a stable base since the referendum?
What's really embarrassing is your inability to spell and understand simple economic principals a 10yr old can.

This is a custom AIB cards with a custom PCB and has an 8-pin power connector.
Sapphire state the max PCIe draw is 60W which is well in spec.
Mind you, since the reference cards have a software controllable VRM controller, AMD's driver update did sort the reference card's issue.
I'd have to second this. yes I'm sure it has some improvements over the reference board but not many are going to be willing to stump up an extra £30+ over the reference design for a few bells and whistles. Increasingly 4GB is becoming the minimum you should have in a new graphics card not the huge amount it once was and personally I wouldn't pay over £200 just to have the minimum for optimal performance, if I was paying that kind of money I'd want at least 6Gb and ideally 8GB....

is the pcie hardware problem been properly sorted out on this batch??

It was fixed by a driver update apparently.

Its a driver thing not a hardware thing and the "problem" which was slightly higher powerdraw via the pcie slot literally wouldnt have been an issue unless you were stress testing the card for extended periods of time, at least so far as im aware.
But yeah im sure i read an article about the drivers fixing the power issue.

yes, but I do not think that was a proper repair, hardware cannot be repaired unless replaced
edit: looks like they did
Sapphire redesigned the power system on the Nitro+ RX 480, swapping out the reference model’s 6-pin power connector for a beefier 8-pin and altering the power phase design so that no more than roughly 60 watts courses in via your motherboard’s PCI-E slot.
This is the proof that a simple driver cannot do it properly

It doesn't look like much of an improvement from the reference on that chart above!
