Just had to send one of these back to SanDisk. Dead after 2 months. Might have been static damage when I removed it from my media player. It's a lot of data to loose if it's used as a camera or phone storage. Thankfully it was only music on mine I had elsewhere.

Maybe need to check if this is fast enough for 4K for futureproof-ness.

Great price, but this kind of storage is borderline scary for cameras etc. I sort of like the idea of slightly lower storage that forces you to backup/wipe your card and then start again. 200GB is a hell of a lot of "memories" :wink: to lose.

Indeed. Since they don't advertise even UHS-1 on the card (or the Amazon product page) but UHS/Class 10 only, they only speed you'll get for sure is 10 MB/s. Anything over that mark might (or might not) happen.
_up to_ 90 MB/s _read_ speed means it might be fast enough to play 4K content on your phone from the card...

I would refrain from buying this card - while definitely large, it's also slow. _At most_ for shooting 1080p/30fps movies, or large-but-not-too-big pictures, but not much more. Well, I could keep my music there, that would work :wink:

​I had ultra 64gb fail on me after a year but card got locked so I coluld still copy stuff of it just couldnt write anything to it. Replaced within a month straight from holland.

DId you have to return the faulty card to Holland beforehand?

The speed of the write is important. This is U1 so only 10mb/s write. New cards are U3 which is minimuim write speed of 30mb/s

I have just bought a Kingston U3 90mb/s read and 80mb/s write. I have a standard goPro (non 2k or 4k) and the difference between this and U1 card is noticeable even when just taking a photo. There used to be a delay of 1-2s and now with this high speed card its almost instant.

I have this card for music storage on my fiio, so I have not had issues with the speed apart from the initial loading of the music that was rather slow.

I am still considering buying a second card as it will be used for music, but for those who require high transfer speeds consider the results from PCwelt.

Don't forget that Samsung released a 256gb card recently although those extra 56gb don't have set you back a lot.

For shooting video and photos, eg on a family holiday, large cards seem to make a lot of sense. But you could end up regretting it if the card fails/corrupts and you lose everything from your whole holiday. I run my own video production business and we always shoot projects on smaller cards for this very reason. Card failure happens more often than you think, particularly on cheaper cards where they've cut corners to make it that cheap.

Samsung just unveiled their new cards with 500mb per sec ! Mind you, they won't be compatible with anything as they use a different connection configuration on the back.

Not sure id trust flash mem at this price. Nearly £50 isnt throw away money. Give it a year when its sub £30 and ill bite.

The size and shape of the card is the same, so if they make their slots dual compatible with the old Micro SD and the new cards... it may work out for them.

My point wasn't how much this chap paid. That is his personal business/details etc. I don't really care how much someone else paid for this card. My message was in response to his second statement "£38.99 for 200gb card excellent deal". Clearly it isn't an excellent deal at £38.99, because it isn't £38.99. The only reason it is £38.99 is because he has some voucher, which doesn't apply to anyone else and has no relevance to anyone else on HUKD.

a while ago with TVs it was cold not 1080p, then cold not 4K, then cold not HDR, so now with memory cards it needs to be UFS, regardless if anything actually supports them or not :smiley:
