i usually do get stuff only on steam but was thinking that if it counted as a cross buy with xbox then i wouldn't have to buy it twice

Yep, deal looks to have expired- must have gone live on Sunday. As for the code, they're making quite a big song and dance on the website about not using vouchers anymore and instead offering 'VIP' pricing (aka being a member).
