I have one in my coffee machine so that I can put water and coffee in before I leave the house, then switch it on via the internet when I'm on my way home so that I've got fresh coffee waiting for me when I get in. Oh, and it's also got SickRage running on it to manage the TV shows on my NAS drive (I used to run that on the NAS drive itself but it slowed it down so I thought I might as well put it on the Pi in the coffee machine as it's on 24/7 anyway). Yeah, why don't they just charge us £6.50 for the Pi and give us free postage? That would be better!

£2.50 delivery on a £4.00 item, more than 50% of the item cost just on postage, only in the UK!
Why can't they stick it in a 2nd class envelope for 55p?!

amen brother! so many people buy a pi just to play some movies, and completely miss the point that they have a full linux server/desktop, photography/video, emulation and electronics platform sitting there. even worse you have the morons that just want to put windows on it.

What I'm trying to say is; most RPis are quite small and compact, they're quite good at not occupying space at the back of the cupboard or the bottom of a drawer, the number of RPis fulfilling this role corroborates with this hypothesis, thus one may conclude that RPis are good for occupying a desk drawer or cupboard. On the other hand, the small size and mass of the RPi, particularly the Zero, doesn't lend well for keeping a door open or stopping the wind from un-stacking a neatly stacked, stack of A4 paper.
Evidently, there are quite a number of RPis used for Kodi, however, if the fate of Kodi RPis are followed for a another few weeks or at most months, they will invariably be consigned to the bottom of a drawer or cupboard. This corroborates with the assertion that "Kodi is the lowest common denominator in modern computing" (fishmaster, 2016) .
Further evaluation on the possible uses and the eventual fate of the RPi is recommended.

Ah there's no other use for a Raspberry Pi other than Kodi is what you're saying. Which is of course totally untrue. If you can't think of a use for a Rasp Pi other than Kodi then you don't need a Rasp Pi.
Kodi is the lowest common denominator in modern computing, it's as ubiquitous as stupidity which is handy as there's common ground there.

Kodi is single handedly the lamest idea anyone could come with with for putting a Raspberry Pi to use.

no, you can install OSMC on it which is a cut down version of Kodi that apparently works better with Pi Zeroes.
But then these don't support the HEVC codec which a lot of stuff is encoded in nowadays, so it's not really worthwhile using it as a Kodi box IMO.
I'm trying to find a stripped down version of one of these ..
So i can make a retro console with my one but I can't find one anywhere - i tried stripping down one i had myself but i killed it

Don't jump down my throat over a comment. Nobody helped this guy even though he asked the question over an hour ago. I've set up a Pi before but I'm no expert, I just assumed setting it up would point to some atomic clock somewhere like Windows does each time you start up.
You can get your point across without sounding smarmy.

"windows time" wtf are you on about?
the pi gets its time over ntp automatically if it has internet access, otherwise you can manually set it with "sudo date -s" or even "sudo ntpdate uk.pool.ntp.org". i think kodi even has a way of setting it from within kodi, but that'll be lost upon reboot if you don't give it internet access (bit odd if you're using it for streaming....)
if the date is right but the time is out, then you probably need to set your timezone with "sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata" and select europe->london
alternatively login to the desktop and use the settings or date applets to change it.

Even then that's 75p. I heard a few Pi retailers send these without packaging, not sure about Pimoroni specifically. In no universe does an item this small cost that much to post, people send quite substantial stuff for £4. It's just plain rip off Britain and it sours many good offers. I rarely buy anything that's not free postage (and yes I check they haven't just bumped the price up).

That's the thing, there is no packaging, Pi Zero comes only in an anti-static bag. Regular 2nd class would be more than enough.

Sorry guys but I have a raspberry pie I am running Kodi which is for streaming tv and play games that's a good option or project
With that I am have a problem at the moment i cannot reset the date or time and it's stuck at 12:00 1970
Is it broke? If it isn't can anyone give me the idiots guide to reset it,
If it broke then this looks a good deal if I need a replacement
Thank you

iirc when the unit switched off, the clock also resets, you need to connect to Windows time to get the clock working again. You'll have to do a bit of coding but a quick Google brought up this:
Hi can anyone help me please, how do I set the date and time on my raspberry pie thank you

Is it worth paying the extra to have all inclusive ie WiFi etc on a 'full' board? I realise it depends what it's going to be used for, I'm thinking perhaps a security cam. I'm toying with an emulation box... and even a VPN...

i tried writing a live camera feed with the latest pi. but it's just not powerful enough to encode live streaming data. you literally need to have 1fps JPEG images. which I guess isn't so bad for security software. but having an actual live streaming feed, encoded by ffmpeg just doesn't seem feasible
Are you trying to imply that we are getting fleeced for it here? It's £3.60 (after the voucher deduction). Which is considerably less than $5 (even using Paypals conversion rate). You think Americans don't pay sales taxes or for delivery?
