Tried my NUS card but it didn't verify me (no idea why as it's worked elsewhere, including Amazon). So called MS for help and they verified me over the phone. I also got a four year deal at £59.99 which is better than this £29.99 for one year.

My NUS card worked for 365 University around a month ago with no interaction. And yes it's a 'shifty' HDUK special job.

Anyone using onedrive, check your existing accounts, I logged on tonight to do my monthly backup, and was greeted with a message saying they were doing away with the extra free storage space that I had, so as compensation I got a years free 365 with 1tb instead

This took a few minutes to download and install which I find strange. Thought it would have been a big file. Is this online office or something?

That small file is just for the installer. When you go to install it, it will download the rest of the files it needs.

It streams the apps while installing in the background, to get you up and running quicker.

Our full school (approx. 650 students/staff) use this system and it works great for us.
An added bonus for me is being able to log in from home if you forget to send an email during working hours.

I've got a NUS card but this does not get verified online. Has anyone tried calling to get verified online for Office 365 University?

I've just managed to do it. I started a chat to ask if I could get verified (I have an NUS card from my Chartered Insurance Institute membership). The lady asked for a few details to verify, then called me to go through with the purchase. When it then got to the verification stage, she gave me a code to put in. Whole process took about 10 minutes and got 365 University for £59.99 for 4 years.
Many thanks to the op

Yeah I've had to drag and drop it all via the web browser. Did it with a 35GB folder full of sub folders and had no issues. Really impressed.

I've just started using OneDrive, and basically this is what I want to do -
I have a folder on my PC which has 35GB of photos in. I want to upload this to OneDrive, then delete the originals off my PC (they are also backed up to an external).
I have been told I can literally just drag the folder of photos into the OneDrive folder in 'file explorer' on my PC, and this will upload them and also remove them from my PC at the same time.
Is that correct? Surely that's confusing for a lot of people as it means they can't access their photos offline, and there's nothing to tell you the originals are being deleted from your PC?
Please help! Thanks.

If you do that the files will still be on your computer. You could upload them through the website then delete them from your PC. You could also copy them into the OneDrive folder on your PC and then desync (is that even a word) OneDrive from you PC.

It does NOT remove them from your PC.. that's your job.
if you use the one drive sync tool, and then sync a folder, it's literally that, a sync.. if you delete form one it will delete from the other..
But dragging and dropping is simply uploading.

I wouldn't trust MS and there free online storage, they offered windows phone users cloud storage and then drastically reduced it so much that users will lose data (photos etc)

This isn't a freebie, obviously.

No. They didn't.
a) They stopped you adding to it. Your stuff was still there
b) They later gave you the option of opting in to keep the space.
c) That was a freebie whereas you're paying for this.

Yes use the website and drag over. Apparently they are going to bring "placeholders" back to Windows 10 before long. Basically if chosen this will leave a small file on your computer which looks like the original but much smaller. The full version will actually stored in the cloud rather than on your computer. You will obviously only then be able to access it when your online. I hope this makes sense although it's not live yet.

£10 Quidco also tracked for me making this £19.99 effectively for one year. Heat Added.

Ive got the NUS Extra/ISIC card, and couldn't verify online. Got this via an Ecareers language course. If I rang them up, what are the chances of getting verified?

Not 100% correct. If you are a student you could get Office 365 University - this is valid for 4 years.

Does it stop working after 12 months or do you still have the Office applications to use (just no online storage) ??

Why not make it clear this is for one year only? Then you either continue paying or lose it all?!

Just to clarify, the "Office 365" is just a one-year subscription to Office 365.
