Surely the voting should be on whether this is a better price than elsewhere, not how this relates to one of your deals on a completely different game?? Pointless statement.

Christ, why does this narrative still exist? Did people say "But what do I do?" in Elite back in the day? Or more recently for Minecraft?
It's a sandbox game. Not the fake kinds like in GTA, etc, that has an open world but very little interactivity with those assets. But a true physics based sandbox game.
The main goal (which you can choose to ignore) is to reach the centre of the universe? Why? No one knows. It is for each of us to find out what is there.
That then begs the question of how you get to the centre. With fuel. Both for general travel and for those big hyperdrive jumps. And you can only get that by spending credits. And you can only get credits by..... Well that is up to you. Explore and catalog planets and wildlife / plants. Mine and procure elements / minerals from planets / asteroids. Become a pirate and attack passing spaceships and cargo, stealing their loot (but then becoming a wanted man). Participate in wars between different factions.
It is up to you how you get those credits. Thing is, you might come across pirates after your loot. Or go against tough factions. That means you need to upgrade your ship. And you do this with credits also. You might want to land on a planet rich in elements that goes for a lot of credits, but the planets atmosphere is hostile, so you need to upgrade your suit. And that needs credits.
See, there's your gameplay loop. Your explore as far as you can survive, and you survive as long as you can upgrade, and you upgrade as much as you explore.
And the closer you are to the centre. The more the laws of the universe starts to bend. So, as we get closer, we should see rather impossible things. And most likely more dangerous things.

I said what I said because I just hadn't heard the sort of thing that you just put in your post.
Thank you for enlightening me a little bit about the game :sunglasses:

Thanks a lot, OP! Had a pre-order on Amazon for £46. I'm really psyched about this game... have been following them for more than 2 years now. I hope it turns out to be good.

But what do you do on all of these planets? I still don't understand what this game is about - the devs have said the chances of bumping into other players are slim to none, which to me, begs the question - what do I do apart from find planets and walk around on them?
Maybe I missed something but it isn't quite adding up in my mind right now how this is so hyped apart from the scale of it.

Looks interesting to me. I saw this video this morning. Seen this deal then bit.
The lowest price for this was 35.95 when there was a 10% pre order code few weeks back on game collection that's when I ordered As my daughter has been so excited for this. This is the next best price there's been for it! Just hoping the 10 th August release date don't get pushed back again as my daughter will be gutted!

I'm worried myself. At first I was definitely on the hype train but as we get closer my enthusiasm is dwindling. There might be almost infinite planets procedurally generated but they are bound to look similar if not the same after visiting shed loads of them ?And the survival part has had very little depth shown in the trailers.
I hope I'm wrong .

Preordered, thanks! First time I've preordered a game in a long time. Can't wait for this.
Any good PS4 deals to play it on. I'm very tempted to get a PS4 as this isn't coming to XBone :disappointed:

So glad I pre ordered it at £35.77 a few weeks ago. This is still a great price though.
Seriously can't wait for the game. I can't understand how some people can't see the fun in pure single player games. All I read is stuff like, "If I can't play with my friends, then whats the point." It's weird.

Yeah, I don't mean to be hostile when I say that. So apologies if it came out that way. It's just a narrative often used by trolls and I've become tired of it. But I can recognise that there are some (like yourself) who genuinely don't know. Then again, the devs haven't been too in depth with their showcases, so I can't blame you not knowing much. In one way, I like that because games nowadays are too often spoiled by the devs showing too much before release. Kind of like movie trailers now that show off the best bits. But I can understand how some may come away from it a little puzzled as to what the game is about.

Just to add, I say all this based on the potential. The math seems to be there, we just need to see if the application of that math makes for a fulfilling whole. One thing to note, the devs have said they are following a Minecraft-like update schedule. So, that means free major updates every several months each year. So the longevity should be immense (like Minecraft). Thankfully, we won't be nickel and dimed like people are in Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous.

It's not exactly single player - there is a very small chance you'll be in the same spot at the same time as another player somewhere in the galaxy but the chances of you meeting up with your mates are 2²⁶⁷⁷⁰⁹ : 1 against!
Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the street to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space, listen…

Still very excited to get my hands on the game. Perhaps I'm in the minority but the idea of being dropped in the world and basically being allowed to do whatever the hell I want is highly appealing. I don't need the game to hold my hand and take me through a story to enjoy myself.
I was holding off pre-ordering but it doesn't seem like this will be much cheaper between now and launch so have gone for it.

That's so true! I've got to admit I would probably appear in the ignorant category when it comes to this game- I'll admit I don't know very much about it. The devs have been quiet and there haven't been too many demo vids or footage to speak of. I'm looking forward to seeing what the game has to offer. It does worry me a little that we haven't heard much about it, I tend to think this indicates a game will be average etc, but in this case I think if they gave away too much, then what's left to explore etc?! Detracts away from the whole point of the game in a way.
