Unless it's possible this could be modified to play other ROMs in the future this is useless to me. Far better emulation options on just about every platform out there already, NES emulation is so mature that it's practically perfect these days.
This would just be a collectors item to sit on my shelf and look good.

Just to let others know - It has been confirmed there won't be any more games available than the 30 you get with the system. No digital distribution for more games or expansion through mini-carts. Only the 30 already built in the system.
Disappointing.
On a brighter note, Nintendo has been coy on the subject of a mini SNES. So there is that to look forward to.

I have the SEGA Mega Drive version which, as someone else noted, had the major advantage of accepting original Mega Drive cartridges. The emulation on that machine was abysmal though. Games did not run at full speed and sound quality was poor.
If you insist on not pirating, then it is much better to buy these games through some sort of storefront (either SEGA classics on Steam or the Wii virtual console for Ninetendo games). Note that you can buy a Wii for £18 at CEX and the Wii virtual console has the advantage of spoting a much wider range of both Nes and Snes games.

whereas this NES is made by nintendo themselves so you can expect very high build quality all around.

Sega really dropped the ball there. Since they're never going to release a Dreamcast 2 the least they could've done would be to produce a high quality Mini Mega Drive but they're too cheap for that.

they are out of hardware business..they have been out since end of Dreamcast..so there is zero chance for that sadly.

NES is the most popular retro console out there to collect and Nintendo's top one too, but it'd possible there's going to be a Mini SNES afterwards and perhaps a Mini N64.
Still the cheapest although I opted to get direct from Nintendo with the free 9" Retro Mario plush for £49.99. Especially as Nintendo have always shipped well packaged with over size boxes. An important factor for collectors who want a pristine product to arrive

Nintendo Store is part of The Hut Group so they ship their products just like Zavvi does -- In protective boxes. ShopTo does too but for a little more and if you like the plush, it's worth it.

Best price for certain, used shopto a lot in the past, plus money isn't taken until the pre order so also time to shop around if it reduces. Heat.

That's what I want it for, to put on my shelf as a collectors item but I can't warrant spending this much for something I won't even use. Maybe I'll bite if it was £40

That's not really made by Sega, it's by a crappy Chinese company called AtGames who produce awful low quality hardware.

Nintendo is also going to release the Mini Famicom. I'd personally love to get that one over the Mini NES. Mini NES has an advantage, well, two 1) Games on Mini NES are in English and 2) controllers can be unplugged. Ninty's just being traditional about Famicom so I see where they're coming from.

There's a cable extender now which costs about $9.99 on Amazon.com but it's better to just wait for the Chinese to make a cheap alternative.
Btw, it's not fully retro until it turns yellow.

You would probably also want a longer cable for controller that comes with this as gotta be honest the length is pitiful. Can't compare to length of original NES controller though as never had one. Do wish Nintendo, Sega etc would just put the original consoles that take cartridges back into production for a limited time just to see how they would sell I reckon
there would be a market for them and production costs (with the exception of labour) would be considerably lower.

THIS CONSOLE HAS BEEN HACKED. People can now load up to 80 or 90 games to it. Just Google for the instruction. So if you've been hesitant to pull the trigger due to the limited number of games, wait no longer.

Dear MOD team. Can you please consider unbanning the user Splasho who was recently mysteriously banned 2 weeks ago. There have been all sorts of theories as to why he was banned, ranging from a comment he made about the new Nintendo Switch controllers being small for the Japanese market as they have smaller hands (no racist intentions there at all), or him getting into spats with the XBOX/PLAYSTATION gamers who cause mischief in the Nintendo deal threads.
Truth be told, I have no idea why he was banned. But unless he beat up a mod, or stole the crown jewels from her majesty it would be nice if one of the HUKD elders could consider letting him back on?
A lot of others feel the same, just to evidence this from a couple of recent threads:-
And there are plenty other threads with similar comments and feelings. Ultimately Splasho was a good deal poster, and even more so a really good info provider, helper and community contributor, particularly in the Nintendo HUKD community where is sorely missed and there is a large hole now left.
For the record Splasho has not asked me to do this and I am not actually in contact with him as he can't get on his HUKD account. I just like the guy and think he deserves a 2nd chance. Some HUKD users seem to be on their 22nd chance to me

Disappointing.
On a brighter note, Nintendo has been coy on the subject of a mini SNES. So there is that to look forward to.

This will just look a lot cooler sat on the shelf.
Quid a game! Far too pricy.

Unless you mean 3rd party titles, in which case, fair enough. Just include every officially licensed Nintendo game.
Where's the harm? They're ancient games that could be enjoyed, rather than buried in a hole and forgotten about.
They'd sell more units as well. It would be a win/win.
not sure how accurate as they regularly have editions you can get elsewhere
You could get a NES / SNES usb pad for a few quid. You've all the roms you desire just a few clicks away.
Also buying this officially, adds to the sales numbers, which hopefully means that future products could see a release. Hopefully a SNES and/or a N64 version because the mini-NES sold well. If that makes sense.
best price i've seen anyway, heat
Thanx. :-)
Unless it's possible this could be modified to play other ROMs in the future this is useless to me. Far better emulation options on just about every platform out there already, NES emulation is so mature that it's practically perfect these days. This would just be a collectors item to sit on my shelf and look good.
A valid point you make there?, lol.
Wouldn't half mind getting to know if this is able to do other Custom ROM's too mind you?. :-)
There are great emulators u can get for the NES, snes, master system and mega drive.
It's my holiday companion everytime without fail
Would love to try Turtles again some 25+ years later and become just as frustrated as i was as a seven year old. F'n solid.
Also i see Punchout isnt mentioned with a sniff of Mike Tyson anywhere??? Shame they went for the updated non Tyson version as undoubtedly he was a big reason it did so well initially in the US
It is indeed a console.
It's a toy. Nothing more.
I can see why it has held its value/gone up in price.
This 'Nostagia Entertainment System' however isn't as well made, but probably will rocket in price on eBay anyway because Nintendo fanboys have unwavering loyalty and bottomless pockets.
However, I would buy a SNES one of these if it had mario kart, Pilot Wings & Street Fighter 2
If they have the rights to Donkey Kong Country, which Rare re-invented and made a true franchise/brand, I'd put their DK titles on there...
Seeing as they appear to have Konami, Capcom & Square licence deals, I'd love some of their SNES titles on there too...
Chrono Trigger (Square)
Donkey Kong Country (Rare)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (Rare)
Donkey Kong Country 3 (Rare)
F-zero
Final Fantasy II (Square)
Final Fantasy III (Square)
Mega Man X (Capcom)
Mega Man X-2 (Capcom)
Secret of Mana (Square)
Star Wing
Super Castlevania (Konami)
Super Ghouls N Ghosts (Capcom)
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Super Punch Out
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
Super Mario Bros 1,2,3
Tetris
RC Pro Am
Excitebike
Mega Man 1,2,3,4,5,6
Track & Field 2
California Games
Marble Madnes
Blades of Steel
Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers
Probotector
And a few more.

One can hope for SNES and N64. I'd love a Mini N64 with Smash 64 because the cartridge itself goes for £40+.
Btw, it's back in stock.
I wonder if they'll make a Famicom version though
I have plenty of consoles and stuff that can run emulators so I'll probably leave as is.
But this is a good deal aswell
