What do you do with the optical frames? I'm sure an optometrist would charge and arm and a leg to put prescription lenses in them. Probably cheaper buying them at Specsavers, I would imagine spece's has lot more buying power when it comes to glasses than TKMaxx. But then again TKMaxx is normally selling last seasons cast offs.

Nah, as I got bored of conventional looking glasses frames, I just bought sun glasses and got prescription lenses fitted. I've done it a number of times over the last few years and it's the same price as fitting normal prescription lenses.

Very interesting - which opticians did you use?

I've done that in the past at Vision Express when I couldn't find any regular specs I liked in their ranges (they're still making a mark up as they're flogging frames to me) but I'm willing to bet their reasonable prices wouldn't apply if you walked in off the street with frames bought elsewhere and asked for them to be glazed.
I have to be honest, I don't buy into the TK Maxx business model either, every fashion item they sell looks like the scrag end of leftovers that couldn't be punted out when it was new. Looks like they sell to people more interested in the right label than how it looks.

I recommend http://www.reglazemyglasses.com - you just send them the frames and they will fit the lenses. Reasonable cost especially if you have very simple lenses and there are £10 off vouchers every few months on moneysavingexpert.com

Thank you OP was just about to purchase some Oakleys elsewhere, but just ordered a shed load to try at home, keep the ones I like and return the rest

The stuff is all listed as womens, but they are lots of mens frames in there. The clue is the Bridge size, with a 14-16mm bridge for women and bigger for men.
