I don't trust their specifications either. The P14.2 model runs on 4 AA batteries - almost 3 times the capacity of 4 AAA batteries. On low power it is 20% brighter with 20% shorter battery life - like somehow the P14.2 wastes 2/3rds of its battery? Doesn't add up.

I wish I was a professional LED.

I bought one on the back of your recommendation which arrived today.
Very impressed for the price as I have the Lenser already. I will use this as my work torch and it's damned good for the money.

It's incredibly bright, I use mine as a bike light and it's great. It's amazingly powerful.

I don't know what the complaints are for this. I have one and whenever I pull it out, everyone turns their heads and wants to have a go on it. It stands head and shoulders above many torches.

I have the P7 great touch, was on the beach at night and turned it on full focus pointing it towards the sky (looked like it was a beam for the batman sign) really good! ^^

I have one of these, the build quality is head and shoulders over the auction site specials of "so called same spec" the light beam is amazing it makes a perfect circle of light with no lines or patterns within it, also a nice white beam with no blue tinge.

I liked mine but after kids took camping a year ago, forgot to take batteries out and ones leaked now even with new batteries I simply cannot get it to even turn on. Purchased Jan 2015 £25 is it maybe fixable?

That looks like one I purchased before and it lasted just over a year and was good whilst it worked and yes it was brighter than a p7.2 but not massively.

I have this model. Bought last year when it dropped to £25 as did many other HUKDers. A good and reliable light with excellent build quality. A few months ago I bought THIS. Also very good build quality, albeit not as refined as a Lenser. About the same size and weight, but noticeably brighter. No comparison when it comes to price. I would definitely recommend it over over the Lenser if what you're looking for is a good light source with a solid construction.

The Ebay torches appeared to have very good quality in the hand.

The good makes I believe offer longevity over the clones though.

I'd feel pretty alienated as a paying subscriber if I were treated the same as someone that paid nothing.

Get a AAA 85 Lumen keyring torch - Klarus ,olight, Fenix. Nitecore all are good.
You will use this so much more because you always have it on you.

Beyond that - Unless you want to go all tacti-cool - I would suggest USB chargeable torch

i have Lenser; and several others. It's very overpriced and not superior in any way bar the lens, which seems like good glass. To me, Lenser is like Mag-Lites.....nice, overpriced, competing on name not product.

I have purchased a couple of ebay; they last for a bit less than a year and then they start to go wrong. You can of course be lucky.

Best to buy a good make so something from thrunite,nitecore, fenix etc Lenser also good but seems to be more expensive fror the same spec.

All depends if you want something to last or are happy buying again after a year.

I have this torch i.e. a 7.2 and am quite happy with it; though its not the most powerful it should last.

I purchased 2 P7's a year ago when they were on special offer from Amazon.
One of them was fantastic, incredibly bright and the other was about 1/3 of the brightness.

To cut a long story short, I had a genuine Lenser and a fake...
I also ordered several small 'Cree' torches as stocking fillers... All 5 were different in terms of what they done.
Some would be bright, some dim. The beams were all different. Some would focus, some wouldn't and some had different settings of brightness + strobe and others didn't.

This year from amazon I have already had:
- Fake electric toothbrush heads
- Fake rechargeable batterys
- A non Uk compliant charger for the above
- A mobile power bar with about 1/4 of the stated capacity

Good luck getting a genuine Lenser!

I have a similar model, very good torch.
Whilst some people will just read off one number and automatically say it's "crap". Things to consider:
Durability, distribution of light, ability to focus said light, intensity of light (which affects how far it throws, not just lumens), and reliability.

Lenser excels in all these categories from my experience, but is that worth £24? Depends. If you're camping or not near a shop to replace it quickly, then probably. My Lenser gives off a very pure white light, over a nicely even circle which I can focus smaller/bigger for the job at hand. Worth it for me considering how much I use it.

Go to homebargains they have these small torches with 3 x aaa batteries already inside, and they cost £1 , and they are extra good! I'm telling you they are around 200lumens when compared to my better 1000lumen flashlights off fleabay, and you can even put in 18650 battery in them ( they are not designed to take them, but they fit there anyway and are even more brighter with them inside)

I would have never bought such £1 stuff myself, but someone bought it and showed to me and I was so impressed that when I had forgotten my flashlight before going somewhere I popped in to buy 2 and they still last me like half a year later..I doubt they would be less bright than this crap what OP has posted for £24

I have an Ledlenser P6.2 Professional LED Torch (Black). I am highly delighted with it.

I wanted a torch that was on or off. This model fitted the bill nicely.

I got a Cree torch from amazon for about £2

anyone recommend a working torch ? I mean I am always building pc systems and light to get some light in there when working is there any good ones

this torch is powerful for its size and I have one. it makes me laugh when people mention the pound shop. you can't get a brighter torch from the pound shop. I guess you do your daily shop there.

I've had a Lenser for a couple of years now and always found it to be pretty good so what other, similar torches are out there?

I think we have this one - well we have a LedLenser which takes 4AAAs and came from Amazon - and it's an OK basic torch. But to be honest I'm rather underwhelmed by it. It feels well made and the focus is well designed but that's about it for me. Performance and battery life are OK but nothing to write home about.
