Fabulous sale from a great company (staff owned remember and a UK tax payer - not tax avoider).

Funny people mention tax avoidance on a site which is owned by a company that avoids tax by being registered in the Seychelles.

I do believe this "clearance" sale has been going on for at least 3 weeks now! judging by the emails I get from them every day. Still better late than never

I think the big issue is with their larger items and white goods. I've experienced similar with them when ordering a dishwasher it didn't come on the correct day, and a click and collect lamp had minimal packing so was a bit bashed about. Both times however they did offer financial compensation and were relatively easy to deal with, however I certainly wouldn't get any large goods that I had to wait in for delivered again as items like this not turning up is unacceptable and companies like AO do it so much better.

And what I bought early on is now a much lower price. Do John Lewis price match themselves when they drop the price? It's little money but irritating.

They have some really nice lights (obviously this is subjective but i have seen the top quality of the JL ones) with extremely good discounts.

We all love JL but more recently there have been quite a few complaints on here about their service. Doesn't help when reviews like these are out there.
surprised at those reviews, very similar to IKEA which again i was surprised at how bad they are. that's two big companies you trust but they are letting buyers down. but saying that it's rare to leave a positive feedback on these review sites

Just be aware that "special buy" items are not reduced at all, but bought in for the sale. They are generally of a lesser quality and NOT a bargain at all !

Funny people that mention tax avoidance also typing away on the PC/Lappy with Intel board/chipsets,Microsoft OS,Google as search engine or on an Apple product.

Slightly suspicious of a TV I bought last week as the box looked like it had been retaped up, however everything was packaged / protection tape & wrap as it should have been and it was only when I switched it to update itself (there was a manufacturers upgrade at the end of May) that I realised they must have done that themselves as it was right up to date. So dodgy looking packaging may be because they have done such.

Fair points. I try to do my bit but yes I use a Google search engine. That said - I always try to log in via Quidco.com or if not everyclick (a charity search engine).
The above said, yes you are right. Still, J Lewis is a great company in my view.
