Does anyone know what the rough cost of fitting one of these is if the fire it's replacing is basically the same but with different looks.

I depends on the state of your Chimney. If there are downdraft problems for example, or lack of draw, insufficient ventilation etc etc. Gas Safe engineer will advise, but check his cert is valid on the Gas Safe website,to be sure.

It was all checked out not so long ago,so I'd like to think there shouldn't be any issues.

Good fire but the coals turn black more or less straight away then flake when cool

I believe this is a power flue, if so keep well away as most of the heat goes out of the chimney. They are also known as decorative fires rather than being fires for any good heat.

It's just a standard open flue fire, nothing power flue about it

Can't complain for £50 it does actually give out some good heat & we have a large room.

If I don't have a natural gas hook up is there some sort of canisters I can run it off of?

decorative, might cost same as electric to run, a lot more if we think that would need servicing once a year even so is not needed

Delivery is useless. Got message it would be delivered but it did not arrive having taken the day off.
Checked the hauliers web site the following morning which said it had been delivered. I then sent strong e-mail to b & q and 25 minutes later received another message it would now be delivered today. It arrived at about 1.30 pm. The driver said he had ran out of driving hours.

This fire is only 55% efficient. (They don't mention that in the specifications, it is only shown in the last photo.)
Some other makes are around 85% efficient with convected heat as well, but cost a lot more.

obviously they need to be in line with the laws when fitted but at your own risk it can be fiddled to an extent provided it is done well and carry out proper tests after the modification. Modified or not, should only used for a quick boost and for a short time
