Boasting a whopping 10kg load capacity and a 1400rpm spin speed, the Hotpoint RPD10457J Ultima S-Line washing machine provides plenty of room for all your laundry needs.
Direct injection
Exclusive to Hotpoint, this impressive feature promises to remove 100 stubborn stains at just 20 degrees. By premixing water and detergent, the RPD10457J washing machine is able to perform a thoroughly deep clean at lower temperatures for a more economical wash.
Steam power
Steam Hygiene enhances washing performance by generating steam during the wash cycle to remove any bacteria from the fibres, which are treated at the same time.
Super Silent
Built with sound insulating panels and an advanced brushless motor, the RPD10457J Ultima S-Line washing machine is so quiet you won't notice it's even on. This is great for saving money, as you can run your machine during the night when energy costs are lower, and you don't have to worry about being disturbed.
i find the actual wash of my hotpoint very good especially short washes and it is easy to look after. is really quiet. i dont expect many brands to last very long these days so keep insurance on them which i factor in to budget. i have found bigger load machines with lower programmes the best for reliability though i do need the bigger drum. i dont deal with hotpoint or like but ins company and dont have a problem. i think it is the dryer situation that caused the problem not the washers imho. i had my dryer replaced not repaired and both going grand from hotpoint group.

I think hotpoint is now part of Philips who have had a disaster over their tumble dryers catching fire, absolutely thousands still out there putting lives at risk. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

...and it's Whirlpool who now own Indesit - I bet they're regretting the purchase due to the 4million+ tumble driers that need to be repaired or replaced.
I need a new washing machine so considering options. My 6 year old Indesit today stopped taking in water. It's probably the inlet valve so taking a chance on £8 eBay replacement. If it's still knackered I'll have to get a new machine... the Samsung EcoBubble isn't much more and comes with 5 year warranty so might go for that

I recently took one of these apart, only to find a massive block of concrete sitting at the bottom of it

Every machine I've ever seen has a large block of cement (or whatever) it's used to stop the machine moving across the floor when spinning.

I quite like my really old Hotpoint, had it donated by previous home owner when we moved in 6 years ago and it was probably 10 years old then. I've put new door switch, new control panel, near drive belt and new bearings twice, I can strip it down and replace them quite quickly now.
Mrs overloads it and washes everything at every opportunity, but it keeps going, she wants to get a new one but I can see I'll still be fixing up this one when I'm 70. Has Hotpoint really gone down hill so much??

Hotpoint no point, very funny. Hotpoint and John Lewis both have dodgy customer service-pain to deal with, stay away. you have been warned. Buy a cheaper product, keep more of your money.

got the 1600 spin version of this. had it 6 months so cant comment about reliability yet. have to say its really good. got it from costco so no probs if it goes wrong. the 20 degree long wash (3hours 30) does a very good job on most things with biological powders. the steam im not convinced is more than a gimmick. it is super silent apart from a stupid plastic sheet over the powder dispenser that shows which number is which wash, it rattles like a ****. think i will cut it off.

The old (roughly pre-display) ones are great as I think they used bearings made in Switzerland, one 20 year old in our garage is still going strong but one bought in ~2008 has just gone for recycling as it's second set of bearings was about knackered. Only light use too one or two washes a week.

We have the 8kg version. The 20 degree cycle is useless for removing stains.
Better on 40 degree. Only got ours as it was 250 quid.

Yeah folks should buy this expecting something to go wrong within 2 years but do expect JL to support it well. Hotpoint ain't the brand it used to be.
I've been having a Beko 9kg machine for the past 3 years, used at least 3 times a week and hasn't missed a beat. Significantly cheaper than this as well (as in around the £190 mark at the time).
True, Beko has had their issues with fridges and cookers but these have now been resolved and washing machines have always been fine, IMHO.
