Say you have a 4K TV and you want your HDMI cable to support all of the available functionality that HDMI 2.0 offers, then you need a high speed HDMI cable.

If it's not high speed then it will only support limited functionality.

Yes. I've read that and others before, but I've yet to find anything describing the difference in the cables.

Incidentally, the wording on the sheath of the cable I received is 'HIGH SPEED HDMI CABLE WITH ETHERNET' - all in caps - I'm not shouting.

I've seen data specs for the cables but I didn't have a rocket science degree to understand them myself.

High speed is enough for just about every need.

There is a new Premium High Speed that I have seen advertised but not read up about it yet.
