Two days ago went to france , long queue at dfds we had p&o nearly no queue. At the time of booking was same price but time suited better.
If going add an hour queuein before getting onto ferry due security searches. Average wait was 40 minutes at 10pm...

That's quite poor price for a channel crossing. Considering P+O charge less during their offers, sometimes doing £20 day trip returns for something DFDS is charging £80 for.

I agree, I went to Paris in May for a 3 day break after the EgyptAir flight crashed from Paris to Cairo and experts said it was more than likely a terrorist attack! I still went and had a great time!

Not far off what it costs as a foot passenger. There may be some fairly fat passengers out there but surely my body puts a tad less strain on the boat than a 4x4?

Expensive or not, it is the only way I would cross the channel. Dover, Calais and Dunkirk are just awful ferry terminals. With the train, you are on and off before you know it.

I've crossed with P&O a few times for less than £25 return. DFDS seems to be consistently significantly more expensive offers or not. Why would anyone bother with them?

Managed to get our ferry for three weeks' time cheaper by using the P&O Daily Mail promotion (ewww) and getting a £22 return 'overnight' fare from Dover to Calais. We're just not using the return leg, and then we're coming back from Dunkerque via DFDS. Slightly convaluted but got peak time fares for £66 return!
