Despite what many people on forums think, ebay is a business and there's usually a reason for everything they do, even if it appears crazy to the rest of us.
In this case, they might well be trying to encourage casual sellers to list more stuff with the high fvf discount, as regular sellers will carry on whatever happens.
I have been getting 100 free listings every day for the past few months, as well as many of the fvf promos like this one, so perhaps they will revert to giving different sellers the same promo, but at different times, which happened a lot last year.
I look at my seller dashboard every day, as things have changed so much on ebay that a promo can start at almost any time, and not only weekends.

Just saw that this is auction only - it's possible that ebay are struggling to get enough auction listings in many categories, as lots of sellers now only use fixed price, due to experiences with auctions only getting one bidder - with amazon etc promising delivery almost as soon as you buy something, the trend has moved away from auctions, which might be why ebay are doing this promo.
I already list a dozen auctions per day (Having 100 free listings per day as mentioned above), so they don't need to give me a promo to encourage me to list more, and that could be why I didn't get this one.
My auctions get very few views and fewer bids, with only a couple of sales per week, and nothing ever getting more than one bid, so if I wasn't getting so many free listings I would stick to fixed price only and have them available for sale for 30 days rather than 10.
Good luck to those who got this, and I hope you sell most of them.......... with no problems down the line !

Yes, always log in to eBay website (on a computer, it doesn't show up the same in the app or mobile site) and check the right hand side in "myebay" Despite eBay assuring me that all promotions will be sent to my eBay messages and registered email, they never are!
I find usually Sunday is when new offers appear unless they do a flash promotion like the 10/20%. Unfortunately I haven't received any this week.
Really glad eBay are trying to bring some more auctions back to eBay as I love the unique way to buy and the excitement of the last seconds on an auction of something you want to buy or as a seller checking in to see what it's got bid up to. It's what makes eBay different from any other retailer and something they should do more to preserve. I know buy it now is more convenient for those with busy lifestyles who may not be able to check in on auctions and best offer is a nice compromise between the two but i still think auctions have their place and would like to see a resurgence of them on eBay....

Nearly always sell using fixed priced listings. Not much fun selling for way below the going rate in an auction.

Damn, I've been waiting for a final value fee promotion but need to list a couple of things as buy it now. No point in selling in auction format. eBay seem to be getting a bit sneaky in their promotions, excluding 1 and 3 day listings, now only doing this for auctions.

sorry all, I didn't include a link as this is an invite only. However, seems you can still check bottom of your selling page for the offer.

Good luck with selling anything in an auction on ebay. You'll be lucky if anyone can find it...search is useless. :disappointed:

Checking that I have a "Pay only when you sell" in July but showing the start as 24-25.July - odd there should be an advance note like that.
A bit narrow a date range too.

It can work the other way too you know, you can get more in the right conditions, though you do have to know when there is traffic on the site. Sunday nights are usually decent, bank holiday weekends can be very good but there is definitely still a risk factor admittedly. Would help a lot if eBay didn't charge so much for reserve price on auctions...

It's best to check at the bottom of your 'Selling' section in My Ebay, where it says all the promotional discounts you're entitled to.
