These are brilliant, we've replaced our full-size with one. hard floors downstairs, carpets up.
previous poster was half correct.
I believe the "absolute" comes with a hepa filter where the rest don't , so if allergens are a priority might be worth going for that.
The rest are much of a muchness and the best model depends on how you'll use it most of the time....hardfloors - fluffy, handheld - animal, carpets - total/absolute etc.
head over to your nearest electrical retailer, most have Dyson stands where you can have a mess about with them in person.

The button is light/easy to press- you don't even feel it. Just bought one to replace our bulky dc25, the v6 is amazing!

I bought the V6 Animal from Dyson EBay. It was supposedly a reconditioned unit...but when I registered it with Dyson online... I got the full 2 years guarantee. It looked brand new to me & cost me £160!
I would also agree that this has changed the way I now clean...little & often seems to work best..
cheers.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. I have joints problem and I am concerned about holding the trigger. Will probably chk with local retailer before buying.

I also read the power triggee needs to be held, is that true?

trigger does need to be held, to be honest though these units seem to change vacuuming habits.
not sure of your current routine, but for us it was a whole house less regularly now it's little and often. That seems to work better given that the battery has a limited duration, and how convenient it is to whip off the wall and get to work.

The halfords one doesn't appear to come with the longer pole, just the short motorised brush. I've got a v6 animal and it's awesome for those daily quick vacuums around the house. I've got a 4 bed house over two floors and do half one day, half the next and it works brilliantly

Yes your right! The one at halfords is just the handheld! Personally would get a bad back with that one!!
Not as good as 5 yr gurantee like the one i got but DC50.. Maybe u dont get 5 yr with V6?

Decent bit of kit
Downsides , 20 minutes on a full battery charge , the filter inside the dust collectors should be removable as it clogs up underneath ( I use air duster to blast them out . Worth getting a genuine 2nd removable filter off amazon or eBay (goes in the top) so you can swap and clean the old one on a regular basis
