Cheap deal for Civ 6 on PC. This is £49.99 from Steam directly. £26.99 for a Steam key is a bargain.

Please stop pre-ordering games. Especially digital ones, they're not going to run out.

Civ V was released SIX years ago.
In fact if you look at the chronology on wikipedia, you will see that this is the longest break between proper Civilization versions since the first one was released in 1991.
If you're counting 'Beyond Earth' for some reason, just don't.

I don't think people buy games to hold value. They buy them to play them. If your a fan of the series like me you probably want to play it as soon as possible so why wait years to save a few quid? Divide those pounds by the hundreds of hours of fun you have, its probably more than worth it. That said it could suck, who knows. £26.99 doesn't seem much at all for such a new and big game.

Bought this but hope it doesn't go down in price straight away. Good price for release date though.

I've never bought a pre-purchase from CDKeys before, how do they work? Do you get a redeemable key straight away, or just an agreement that they'll deliver one by release date?
You don't need either a facebook or an email, just press submit and it will give you the code.
You'll get one by release date. They will send you an email with a link to a page that includes a scan of the CD key.

I play Civ 5 and AE yet I'm not sure about this one. Think its going to need to be a lot cheaper to get me to bite, to many changes I don't like so far from what they have shown.

That goes double for Civilization base games imo since it'll probably turn out that you also need to buy a handful of DLC to make the game what it should be.
It just wouldn't be an HUKD Civ deal without Elevation commenting on the game's spelling of the title

I'd normally be looking forward to a new Civ game, but this time I'm not so sure.
Cartoony graphics and too soon after the last game. I'd rather they added another expansion pack to Civ V or Beyond Earth.

Very tempted to pre order this one as I know that I'll eventually buy it anyway. I just really really hope that they break with tradition and the game is released without any major bugs...!
I have bought every Civ game and have thoroughly enjoyed them all but the state of some of the releases is a little shocking at times.
Heat added and thanks OP
meh - Caved and bought, I'm too weak :disappointed:

Whyyyy. You know that in just a year and a half or less this will be about 6 quid in a sale. And unless you're 7, a year and a half goes by REALLY fast. Some rare games hold value - these do not. I'm not saying the Civilisation series is good or bad (aside from not being able to spell their own title correctly) I'm just saying they don't hold their value for long.

Just bought it. £25.64 is a decent price. Heat added. Been waiting for one of CDKeys' daily deals on it as it's unlikely to get cheaper until at least 6 months after release. As someone who's played 1000+ hours in Civ V I know I'm not going to wait around that long, and certainly not for the years it will take to be 6 quid!

That's the thing about making an informed choice, we are all so different. The amount that I have spent on these Civ titles over the years is comparable to that of the Total War series. I know that after a good while I could get the equivalent of the GOTY edition for a fiver or so. But with the hundreds of hours play time in these games I can more than afford the indulgence.
Providing that I can pull myself away from 7d2d I'll play this on release.

Will be under a tenner by xmas, with hopefully the major bugs ironed out so will wait for then.

You seriously think you'll be able to get an 80% discount 2 months after release? Good luck with that fella.

Not a regular user of CDKeys; is it likely to stay at this price or thereabouts or will it increase to steam levels before release?

It's currently on a daily deal at CDKeys. Previously it was priced at £29.99 which it's likely to stay at (barring any other daily deals before release date). In my experience of CDKeys pre-order games normally go up by a few quid just after release so I would guess it would be around £33-35 then, which puts it at the price currently going on places like Kinguin.

I've bought the last 3 Civ games at release [ignore BE], and even Starships [99% bought as "Sid Meier" on the title]
Firaxis has got into the habit of releasing partially ready games, then adding core mechanics in the EXP so you have a working game by the 2nd EXP.
Even I've learned my lesson, and will wait for the complete/GOTY "actually working game".

Where you did get 80% from?
Civ 5 was £14.99 4 months after launch (£39.99 RRP), and zavvi sold it for £9.99 just before launch too, keys available from grey area key selling sites went for silly money a couple of months after release (coolshop £2.35). So yes, I think its quite possible imo, sorry if that breaks your heart.

I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but they certainly have a theme of making the game feel more 'whole' in the first or second expansion than it did at release.
XCOM was another fine Firaxis example of this - although really quite a well done game on release, it didn't feel whole until 'Enemy Within' was released.

I don't generally preorder games but I do make an exception when it's available on CD Keys. It's always cheaper than buying it after release and doesn't go down for some time.

It is a good price I think, but I think it's not going up either, so it might be better waiting until it's closer to October to see more pre-release footage.

I got 80% from you saying it would be under a tenner, which is 80% off the RRP of £49.99. Simple maths mate.
Also, you say Civ V was £15 four months after launch. That's a 62.5% discount. Same discount on this game would cost £31.
As I say, good luck with it but I doubt you'll get it for what you think you will.
