The bike is reduced from £430 to £199, and all Carrera bikes have got 20% off at the moment, making it £160. Only 2 frame sizes left, but if your less that 5'6" this would make a very cheap starter bike. Not as good as the Halfords Boardman bikes, but much better that something you can buy in Tescos.

Never worth the rrp. Had the men's version a while ago before upgrading to a giant defy . It's not great. But I suppose it is cheap.

When halfords don't show the weight it is heavy.
Didn't know they still did 7 speed cassettes, still looks good for the cash.

It's not a cassette, it's the venerable shimano 7 speed freewheel. Main issue is these are only 14t smallest tooth (though you can source 13t ones), cassettes go down to 11t (though 12t is more common). You can't put cassette on a freewheel hub (or vice versa) it's a different system. Freewheels screw on (pedalling tightens them up), cassettes slide onto a freehub then have a locknut to hold them in place. You can still get 7 speed cassettes though, I have a hybrid with a 7 speed cassette setup, but obviously they only work with a freehub.
The freewheels are reliable though, never had one fail despite all weather use and abuse, they are cheap to replace at aroud £10. Can be a bit of a mission to get them off though if copper grease hasn't been applied to the threads when originally fitted!

How are you getting £160 --- can only find 10% off

That is not a £450 bike more like a £200 given the low specification. I do not know why Halfords get away with these ridiculous claims.
