I'm not sure it's any help, but I bought one of these for £30 as a 'throw away' because I needed a printer that day. That was a year ago now, I can't find a reason to buy a more expensive one again - it just does the job. No frills, but it works.

Very good price for printer but heavy on ink cartridges. Cartridges are not cheap like printer.

ink is dearer than the printer. got this for free it just sits at home because ink is too expensive

You can buy cheap ink on ebay and refill them yourself, many times cheaper than overpriced cartridges.

The first time you do it you need to make a hole in the top of the cartridge with a bradawl or something. If you get a syringe kit from ebay it's simple to just fill the syringe from the bottle and inject it into the cartridge, though you should probably do it outside and wear old clothes in case you accidentally squirt the ink. After a certain amount of refills the cartridge becomes knackered and needs changing completely, but by then you've saved loads of money.
