Great deal for a full size Bosch dishwasher (12 place setting capacity), doesn't normally drop to often to £229, normally around £249 levels, so a saving of £20.
It's a basic Bosch, but still comes with a 2 year warranty and has some good features like half load, time delay, a quick wash programme and indicator lights to tell you when to replenish the salt and rinse aid.

I have just bought the equivalent integrated machine and it is brilliant. Far better and quieter than my old one. An engineer who came out to try and fix my old one said he'd go for Bosch every time. This is a great deal.

Sadly not very reliable, heating element on ours packed in after a couple of years.

Well check where it's made. The series 6 model I bought was made in Germany. Also make sure you use decent tablets and rinse Aid, salt is pretty much the same.

Dishwasher salt should be as pure as possible, but some of the packets of cheap dishwasher salt I've bought in the past contained free flow additives according to their labels, which you are not supposed to use in a water softener as they contaminate and degrade the effectiveness of the ion exchange resin.
When I buy cheap dishwasher salt I now always check the label, although I'm not sure they actually have to label impurities and additives in it.

I have a 2 year old Bosch dishwasher and it's total crap. Doesn't dry (not expecting bone dry - but items are invariably dripping wet) and often doesn't clean adequately. We properly maintain it as per the manual and use good quality detergents / rinse aid. Bosch have been out twice and say as it's intermittent they don't view it as faulty. Never buying Bosch again.

Same here. Never dry at all. But I can live with that. Won't buy Bosch at Christmas from Currys ever ever again.. Big push to clear rubbish Bosch! There are good ones, but not every single Bosch is good!

Still 100s of thousands of deadly Bosch dishwashers in circulation in the UK so best not to buy a s/hand one.
Entry level quality for Bosch now is pretty bad but I'd still feel confident about their higher end models.
Also I'm of the mindset that environmentally friendly low power versions of appliances are best avoided as they often don't do such a good job as more power hungry versions. I.e. use less water, have weaker heating elements etc and just end up doing a inferior job. For example for dishwashers you can only lightly load the dishwasher with dishes and they need to be correctly spaced if you expect it to clean and dry successfully.
My Bosch dishwasher is 10 years old and still going strong:)

Thing is I wouldn't touch a hotpoint whirlpool machine, so that doesn't leave much. The Smeg machine I looked at just felt flimsy.
The Bosch models still made in Germany are solid. I would be wary of their lower end models if they are made in Spain. I did call Bosch asking about this and they replied all our factories use the same robots so it doesn't matter where it's made.

I had one of the recalled Bosch dishwashers. Went online. Typed in serial number. Engineer came to repair it (fitting a new relay) the next day. 30 minute job. All done. Free of charge! No harm in buying one second hand - though do people buy dishwashers second hand these days, with them being so cheap??

Good deal though I guess!
