Do you get a swollen hoop after the commute to and from the office? Then this could be the solution. Cycling shorts with a silicone pad which kinda looks like a baboon's bum!

More padding built into the seat makes the seat larger and uncomfortable (strange but true), so padded shorts/undershorts are a simpler solution.
As for bananas :- The banana is rich in carbohydrate - an important source of energy for athletes and has significantly higher levels than any other fruit. Also, unlike most other forms of high-carbohydrate foods, it contains very little fat but is also high in fibre. The combination of fibre with the banana's three natural sugars - fructose, sucrose and glucose - means it provides a sustained boost to flagging energy levels
Plus Bananas are also an excellent recovery food for replacing potassium lost in sweating
Just when you thought those shorts couldn't get any more undignified.

A few reason really. You move around the saddle a bit so the padding is always in the right place and your always going to have leather or plastic over the seat so it will never be as soft as having the padding actually on your bum and chunky seats look horrible on a bike.

They should incorporate the cushioning into the seat, not the shorts! What happens if a baboon in heat sees you :s

I'm sure these help with comfort, but are people actually out in public wearing these? I suppose embarrassment is all relevant... Given how some cyclists already dress, these probably aren't much of a step up

The reason for showing them inside out is so that the pad can be assessed by the purchaser; for anyone who cycles any distance having a decent pad inside the shorts is a prime consideration; actually I am not that convinced these are that great f there were actually shorts but they are boxers. In terms of shorts the extent of the front pad / modesty panel is a consideration that is often overlooked - for cycle shorts correctly designed for men the when you hold them inside out the front panel should extend higher than the rear pad. http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/article/bend-in-the-road-proper-chamois-placement-is-key-39013/

Ok you're the exception to the rule, but the fact that 99% of serious cyclist use padded shorts and thin saddles which what I was going on (I use a charge spoon saddle which has next to no padding)

That's actually not true, I have a gel comfort seat on my mountain bike and it's like 50,000 times more comfortable than the torture device the bike came fitted with.

Don't care if inside out, still enough for a laugh. I also give thanks for the link to the lights. I've bought both for my hubby. I'm very pleased with my purchase, knowing he will be safe and comfy cycling. The comments are great but I can't think of any more puns to join in. Thanks!!!

Making padding out of silicon, like computer chips, rather than silicone, would be even sillier than wearing your shorts inside out to look like a baboon.

Yeah, I thought they were inside out as both the pad and label are normally inward facing. I always wear a pair of boardshort type shorts over the top if/when I wear lycra anyway.

Yup as above bananas = quick energy release of sugars when needed plus longer effect of high potassium against cramps and maintaining good blood sugar levels. Also high in Vitamin C. They are cheap, readily available and easy to carry. A win all round!

I was just thinking about how bad their English was selling to the UK market. Thought was kind of funny. But then thought now we are coming out of the single market that will be us as a country our countries trying to write our product descriptions in Chinese.
Come to think of it bet more of their students learn English than ours Chinese.
I studied German :disappointed: and French. :disappointed: Spanish in my school was looked down at and to learn that you had to first fail your German or French exam as it was seen as to easy.
Hopefully my education isn't the norm as we looked towards the single market given Spanish is worldwide far more useful than German guess that's one set of exams should have failed.

I have a pair like this to use on my mountain bike as most mountain bikers don't wear bib shorts like roadies! Could not cycle long distances without them! Well worth getting if you cycle a fair bit!

I never understood the design of these shorts, wouldn't it be better to have more padding built into the saddle?
Genuinely interested to know why that doesn't work.
Also guys - what's the deal with all the bananas?

The chamois pad needs to be next to the skin to provide protection and prevent chafing and slipping. If you were relying on the saddle alone(which also wouldn't move with the body) you'd have to ride with the bottom half naked! ;-) Actually, a more padded saddle isn't necessarily more comfortbale over distance - the padding/gel can slide around away from where it's wanted. A correctly fitting saddle which distributes the weight well onto the "sit bones" guarantees most comfort. Over shot distances it may not matter much but the further you go the further you'll want and need to get it right!

It seems totally unnecessary for a part of these shorts to be bright red, whether they are worn under or over anything else, you wants to look like a baboon? PS it seems that the 'silicon' pads are actually just foam.
Didn't know 'hoop' = **se **le
Not entirely sure why they only show then inside out?

Sadly for all lady cyclists these are cycling underpants, meant to be worn under cycling shorts or tights :disappointed: So unless you come across "Supercycleman" wearing these pants over his tights on a country lane near you, you will be disappointed :stuck_out_tongue:
