Its a slightly older model but this is a solid price for a 17" gaming laptop.

Madness to get this with the 1060m out soon which blows the 970m out the water, the leaked specs show it has a lower clockrate desktop 1060.

Well, it isn't madness for those that want a cheaper laptop & either do not want to pay a premium for the high end graphics chipset, or do not care either way.

I am actually holding out for a 1060m laptop, I was sorely tempted by this but the time isnt right for me. However there are some things to keep in mind.
This is a good deal if you need a laptop right now.
The 1060m isn't out yet, we don't know how much it will cost.
Apparently its based on a desktop chip, it may have heat or throttling issues.
The G751 is a nice package too, if you value a nice machine and saving a few quid over raw performance I think its not a bad bet.
I remember when there were a rash of cheap r9 290x cards on sale for a great price, loads of detractors were saying to hold out for the 390 series which would blow them away. In the end it turned out the 390 was a rebadge with more ram and the cheap 290s disappeared.

Yes all parameter very good if we compare price for parts and price Yes I do agree that ...
But gaming laptop ? I mean laptop in the first place for gaming - just pure my opinion is little strange ?
why you want bulky and heavy laptop if you can use as portable laptop ? I mean are you will be taking 17 inch laptop for holidays ? or traveling ? or else ?
So if laptop will be on the deck all the time is it not become desktop PC ?
Yes it is slim and still portable compare to desktop PC but that all
GTX 970 vs xbox one s or PS4 what the difference same games same experience
But price for PS4 just 200 + where gaming laptop 900
anyway maybe I become old and my view changes still you need SSD for gaming so this laptop have 1000 GB HDD wich will be very slow to load games need to replace to SSD at least 512 GB £160-200 add to laptop price

Some people travel a fair (for work for example) requiring them to stay away from home for a number of days/weeks. In that case it's great as you don't have to lug around your desktop PC and can easily place this in the room where you're staying.
Doesn't make sense for everyone but there are those for whom it makes perfect sense.

Just something I thought of, if you want to upgrade this badboy to Windows 10, you only have 9 days left !

Good spec. But I went for a 256 SSD (different laptop) as you will use 128 very quickly if putting games on there is important. The C drive gets full very quickly

Nice find. Good price for the those specs. Very capable laptop that should last a good few years. Have some heat op :sunglasses:

You might even just about get away with running VR on this. Not many VR capable laptops around. And none are cheap.
Only just mind you. You'd be pushing the limits of the GFX ....

Ah, ok. So many laptops, so many confusing variants. I keep Googling one laptop and not noticing other variants cropping up in the results. The CPU compares pretty well with the 6700 as well, which is blurring what I thought were fixed parameters on my shopping list. Was happy with a 960 and 6700, but now....
Well, now it's too hot to be running a gaming laptop! :-)

I purchased this from Amazon around 8 months ago during the boxing day sales for £900. It was on sale at £999 but due to them messing up my order, they gave me a couple of gesture of Goodwills which brought the price down. I believe the exact variant is the G751JT. It's a very good laptop but it's an absolute beast in terms of size and weight. I hardly get use out of it for this specific reason as it's a pain getting it out for quick use, I use my HP for general surfing for this reason.

changing the keyboard is possible but really not fun on this owing to the backlit keys - I ahem bought a cheap one from Asus refurb off ebay without noticing it had a Mexican keyboard. Must think before clicking buy in future!
Great laptop though - fast, quiet and cool ...

Isn't this the one without an IPS screen? It's a great price, but the screen's held me back. And the keyboard. I'm allergic to chiclets... though nobody seems to make a proper laptop keyboard any more, so I may have to build up my tolerance or settle for playing Torchlight 2 on my X220 forever. :-)
