since the guarantee is normally 12 months, you only really get an extra 2 years not 3.

It was awesome when you could buy Apple products from the official Apple UK website 'as a student' if you had the special *link* :stuck_out_tongue:
Knowledge of it was like Fight Club though - "first rule about fight club is you dont talk about fight club"... then some bone head posts the way to do it on HotUKDeals. Now Apple have fixed the website and you cant do it anymore :disappointed:
You have to register as a student and provide proof now. Some people are tools.

John Lewis have been doing 3 years warranty on and off for quite some time,way before currys anyway.
Dare I say it but I'd rather have just 1 years warranty from John Lewis than 10 years from currys,as currys are the pits when it comes to returns/faults/customer service.They will do everything in their power to get out of refunding/fixing an issue,where as John Lewis will go above and beyond to sort the issue out.Well that's been my experience anyway

Purchased a macbook rose gold last week. Phoned to see if they would honour the 3 year warranty, as they do with price drops - nope!
Will be returning it and repurchasing it. Disappointed with their poor customer service.

Could be wrong but don't you have to pay for 3 year warranty as student now, at £99? It coincided with general student discount dropping from 15% to 10% to offset the cost of the 'free' beats.

Hot. I noticed Currys recently started offering a 3 year warranty on Macs as well, so John Lewis have matched it. I'd rather have JL for aftercare.
Interesting they have both started doing this - pretty aggressive move considering Apple sell pricey AppleCare in their own stores.

It is a great deal if you want a standard Mac. If you want to make it "better" add more fusion memory, etc it does not give you the option. Ended up getting one from Apple and they do offer great customer service too :smiley:

What is 'fusion memory'? If you mean a fusion HDD then it's pointless, just get the cheapest iMac and get an external SSD running through USB3 as your main drive.

Also for anyone looking to buy an apple product from them it's worth looking at their added care as it covers you for 3 years normally for accidental damage.
I managed to get 3 years accidental damage cover for only £50 for my 12.9 inch iPad Pro,which is roughly £16 a year,can't go wrong at that price.
